Why people block your Wechat moment or not responding to it at all?
This meme is true. Although your wechat moment post is interesting or useful, some people do not respond to it at all because it is from you. The worst thing, they may already have your moment blocked (unfollowed) from their account. So whatever you post, they never see it on their wall. This is a twoway thing. People do this to us, we also do it to some people. I wonder if I can find someone who has not unfollowed someone in the wechat moment. However according to my experiences and things I found on line here are some reasons for wechat unfollowing.1. Sellers (Taigou people)They think sellingGucci on wechat may work. They think filling the space of wechat moment with their spams will make us tired scrolling so we may take a rest by purchasing some of it. No way. Just click the profile and go to settings and unfollow them. This is what most of us do to them.2. SelfiesThere are people in our life we may kill ourself to see their faces. Their faces are the things we need to see in dreams, when waking up or go to sleep. If they put their face all over the wechat moment, it is fine by us. However, we are not that attached to everyone on the wechat. So spaming your selfie on wechat is number one way to get unfollowed by people. Do not get me wrong, If you took an important selfie (ex:- a one with Queen)please share, everyone loves it. If they do not it is their problem. But if there is No story behind the selfie, then at least limit the people who can see it. 3. No reponders If Harvey Spector is your wechat friend and he did not reply to a comment on his wall is a fine thing. He may be kicking some asses in Newyork. But that dude who wasting time on chating and watching films does not reply to comments, neglecting our comment for days leaving us hanging dry in the social media wall! Come on! Just unfollow him/her or just neglect future moments. 4. When interests conflicting There are people who can never agree to anything we have to say. They may be having personality issue or just f**king with us. No matter what they are, just unfollowing is the thing we can do. Because we can save the energy do something important than fighting with someone on the wall. 5. Too important peopleDo not get offended everytime when someone unfollow you or do not feel bad about unfollowing that important person. Because sometimes we have to distance some very critial people in our life from social media accounts as it can be sensitive issues raise with social media. It is a wise decision, respect if someone under you do it (employee or student) or do it straightforward when you have to unfollow someone important. It is not disrespect, it is a wise move you can take. Here is the list I prepared what do you think? Have you ever blocked someone and then why is that?
4 Tips to improve your Chinese
I have seen brilliant Chinese speakers, average speakers and non-speakers among my foreign friends here. What I have seen from them is these brilliant speakers enjoy a really wonderful life here. They go deep into the Chinese society, enjoy every advantage they could dream of on this wonderful land of new opportunities. From them and my own struggle with it; I learned a lot of lessons about improving this difficult language. And I am more than happy to share it with you. 1. Attend a formal Chinese class Do not listen to any excuses you mind says when you prepare to sign up with a formal Chinese language course. Perhaps an APP or online course is telling you to skip the class and save time on their free or premium APP or online course. May be you find an amazing guy who tell you that he learned the language himself. DO NOT LISTEN them. Nothing can replace the fundamentals you learn from a formal Chinese class. I live in 21st century, I do online shopping, online learning, online earning, online dating … etc, but I still did not find anything close to the support I got from my theory class at Huajiachi Campus of Zhejiang University when it is about learning the language. An amazing old lady taught us the language on a black board using old style calcium chalk, it was amazing. Nothing can replace traditional teaching when it comes to learning the fundamentals of a language, specially a difficult one. 2. Go out alone Do not hang around with your own country mates. I have seen a lot of people make this mistake. You mind will always follow the easiest path. If you hang around with your own people, you will master none but your own mother tongue. When you go out alone you will have no other option, you will have to talk. It is like you jump into a swimming pool without a floating aid. You will have to struggle a bit to keep floating. In most of places, it is really safe out there in China. No worries. Go out alone. Talk to people. 3. Radio therapy No it is not that one which is for cancer cases. This is a new one I invented to improve my listening and speaking ability. Forget about radio on internet, and also the radio on mobile. For radio therapy you need an old style FM radio. It is coming with no distraction. Radio on internet or mobile will distract you, you will check wechat, facebook and other websites, and you will not fully focus on radio. You need full concentration for this. Do this on you bed, go to bed closing you laptop and even mobile (at least switch off internet of mobile), and then listen to a talk show which usually going in night. Talkative girls and boys host these shows, they speak like a waterfall. Keep listing for one hour. This will do an amazing impact for your deeper mind. You will amazed by the result of the radio therapy when you do this for several weeks. 4. Boost your confidence You will amaze when you realize this to yourself. The self-confidence plays a huge role in speaking this language. Do not start a conversation with a Chinese stranger with a complex sentence. If he/she does not understand what you are telling, he will look into you after that point with clouded mind that you cannot speak properly. You will also lose your confidence. Start with a short and easy dialog. Ni Hao, is a good start. Because, when you say it, they will start receiving the next sentence from you. Always go with several friendly lines before you go into deep details. Do not worry too much, communication among Chinese itself also complex as still a huge fraction of natives speak their dialects. Keep your confidence and go forward. You may be better than some of native Chinese out there on this land. Finally it is a bit struggle, however if you manage sky is the limit for you. Good luck.
It is my 32nd birthday :-)
I turned 32 today. I was born in 1984. According to the way Chinese calculate the age, I should be 33, but our way I just turned 32. Whether 32 or 33, it is a big number. I have come a long journey. If I am lucky enough I will have more years coming forward on my journey. I tried to write my thoughts about my past life, and I wrote many things. Write and delete. Writing something and deleting it. I could not figure out how to tell my thoughts clearly. Then suddenly the first paragraph of tales of two cities of Charles Dickens came into my mind. I think it illustrate everything I wanted to say. It was the best of times,It was the worst of times, It was the age of wisdom, It was the age of foolishness, It was the epoch of belief,It was the epoch of incredulity, It was the season of Light,It was the season of Darkness, It was the spring of hope,It was the winter of despair, I had everything before me, I had nothing before me, I was all going direct to Heaven,I was all going direct the other way
高考: My experience and opinion on Gaokao
13 years ago I had our nation Gaokao, which is known as GCE A/L . It is very similar to the Gaokao. A make or break event for most of our poor or middle class school kids. Anyway the exam was not easy. The preparation was the toughest. I had to scarify lot of things. I separated from Television, internet and playing. Got up every day 4 AM and studied until 6 - 6.30 AM. Then leave for school. Then to the tuition class where additional support given to me. Week ends? What is week end? There was no such a thing in that time. It was not the exam which was furious. The competition. Anyone who got an interest to learn could pass the exam, with a bit of effort. But passing was not enough. We wanted to be among the best to be filter out for the best university. I saw many of my friends giving up the interest while the work load was piling up everyday. I did not give up. I knew this was the only way to break the poverty cycle my family was entrapped. I was correct, my effort was not wasted. I passed the exam with a good score and I was selected to the top technical university of Sri Lanka to follow Engineering. I won the scholarship and the whole engineering education for 4 years was free. Without existence of this scheme, I will never be able to enter to that university or pursuit an Engineering carrier. I was trained in one of biggest company in the world, British American Tobacco. I worked for a billion dollar company company, MAS Holdings. And now I am enrolled with a PhD program of a top 100 University in world, Zhejiang University. None of these things will happen to be if I did not go through that competitive exam. Although there are debates on this kind of highly competitive and stressful exams, I strongly believe we need this kind of tough test to filter out the hidden gems which have been trapped in poverty or distanced places. Today my labmate Guo dechao told me, the china the most competitive exam will be occurred tomorrow for a batch of a millions of kids. I wish all the best for Chinese kids to do their best and bring out their talents to the top universities of China. You may be going to gaokao tomorrow. Or may be your friend, a sibling or a student is going to exam tomorrow. Tell them not to hate it. Not to fear it. Not to despise it. For sure, it has taken a huge part of your most beautiful period of life. However, it is worth of it if you really take the most of it. Good luck kids!
Cockroach Theory- A beautiful speech by Sundar Pichai.
Cockroach Theory A beautiful speech by Sundar Pichai - an IIT-MIT Alumnus and CEO of Google.inc (now Alphabet inc)The cockroach theory for self development At a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and sat on a lady. She started screaming out of fear. With a panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach. Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got panicky. The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ...it landed on another lady in the group. Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama. The waiter rushed forward to their rescue. In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter. The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behavior of the cockroach on his shirt. When he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and threw it out of the restaurant. Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach responsible for their histrionic behavior? If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed? He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos. It is not the cockroach, but the inability of those people to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach, that disturbed the ladies. I realized that, it is not the shouting of my father or my boss or my wife that disturbs me, but it's my inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs me. It's not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs me. More than the problem, it's my reaction to the problem that creates chaos in my life. Lessons learnt from the story: I understood, I should not react in life.I should always respond. The women reacted, whereas the waiter responded. Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always well thought of. A beautiful way to understand............LIFE. Person who is HAPPY is not because Everything is RIGHT in his Life.. He is HAPPY because his Attitude towards Everything in his Life is Right..!!
My best friend in China: 35 years old China Daily
I am from Sri Lanka, a country that was under British Empire for 150 years and we have English everywhere in our homeland. When I just came into China 5 years ago, everything around me was in Chinese. My eyes were tired seen the complex letters around me, however I saw an English news papers on our dormitory reception and it was cool experience for me. It was China daily. I turned several pages and suddenly found out an English window to this unknown and to be explored nation. It was my beginning of my friendship with ChinaDaily. And gradually I got to know that ChinaDaily has a web portal and also a blog section which allow us to contribute with our ideas. I started writing blogs on it and slowly build a group of readers who keep me in touch with wechat and via private message on the platform. It does not imply that I did not encounter unfriendly comments and messages. Few guys throw me bad comments and messages. However, I kept not responding them at all. Anyway, collectively it is very pleasant experience, every minute I spend on this news papers and also website is interesting. I visit the website everyday and read the newspaper from the dormitory office when I go there occasionally. Chinadaily is like a friend who stay with me in every mood of my life. If I am happy, I can write a blog and if I am upset, I can enjoy what others have said and let my feelings go away. I have read other bloggers’ articles on 35th anniversary. They also expressed their strong attachment to the paper. Perhaps this look odd for a stranger, however people who read and stay touch with Chinadaily know better. We all love ChinaDaily and we stay in touch every day. Good Luck my friend. It is 35. You are big man now.
Why the women's day pledge is also important for men?
This year women’s day, the official pledge will be the parity for women. I do believe women should given the equal status and equality in everything. There is no argument about that. However, my article today will be focus on why men should support this. Actually it is our duty as human being to support such a reasonable pledge. Addition that, collectively as men, we will too have benefits from such a pledge in every dimension in our life. Pledge for parity is saying no for bully We are not living in cave age. This is a modern society where civilization is highly implemented in most of parts of the world. We no longer need aggressive men in any place of our work places. What we all need is brilliant people who can work with each other to bring the synergy into the business body, not someone promote ancient master-slave relationship which operate with carrot or stick. That era is gone. We need equal opportunities to demonstrate our inner talents. Pledge for parity in work place for women is about giving value for the talents of a person, not their mussel power or aggressiveness. Pledge for parity is saving us from nepotism I worked for a company in Sri Lanka, where men lead the most powerful positions. I felt good about it for time being, until I found out it is men from certain boy’s school from my country. I am a citizen of that country, where most of cabinet ministers are men, however it also does not make me feel happy, as again most of them are from that boy’s school. Ladies, do you think being a man bring us everything. No, we too fight the same battle for dignity and to be treated fair enough for our talents. Next time when you count how much percentage men occupy certain industry, for the shake of god, go deeper than gender. It is not about gender. It is about favoring to families, alumnus and friends’ circle. So pledge for parity for women is a good start to break this ugly traditions where untalented losers are getting asylum of. Pledge of parity is about getting paid for what we offer There is limited places on earth we know each others salary. The salary is highly kept secrete between manager and employee, which gives space for many unfair situations. Writing details will lead this article to a thesis, however we all know the salary is not all about talents and skills. As I already mentioned, this is a modern era of civilization. We must bring a better platform for compensation rather than getting temporary profit from someone could not fight for a better pay. This pledge will be a starting point for a better platform of compensations. This pledge is for your daughter We all know a daughter in family is the most precious thing for a man in his all life. I do not accept the Sigmund Freud's explanation about it, however, I got to know how strong that feeling when I saw tears in my sister’s husband when they got their first baby girl was born. You may feel safer when men rules around you. However, when your baby girl fight with men’s rules in future cooperate world, you will feel the importance of this pledge. Pledge for parity is about synergy What does your woman bring you to your life? Count the blessing your lady brought to your personal life. Those blessing are due to synergetic effect of two human element. For decades, catalyst industry was about monometallic, single metals was used in many forms to see a success. People reached limitations of monometallic catalyst. Then, in 1970s pioneers such as Sinfelt tried combine version of metal catalysts which brought down extraordinary success, specially to petroleum industry. 50 men and 50 women is not 100. It is more than that. It is the power behind the synergy. However, the pledge of parity should be deeply considered not to make the same mistake which is right now happening ugly in men’s world. Give talented one parity. It should not be a fight of entering where you do not belong using a trend happening right now in globe. It should be pledge of parity for talents, qualifications and strength. Otherwise, the same ugliness which had occupies the men’s world will run deeply to the future world. Wish every women happy women’s day! Let fight for parity for humanity. You can do better than fighting for yourselves.About Author :- I am Sube 苏贝 a PhD scholar. Lesson from Leonardo Dicaprio - Keep working until you are rewarded
Being rewarded is not easy. Even if you are qualified and fulfilled everything you need from your side, the rewards can be delayed. Bill Gates famously told “Life is not fair” and it will be wise” get used to it”. His predecessor Satya Nadella told people to “trust Karma” in order to get what you deserved. For all of us it is obvious the difficulty of getting what we deserved. We work hard, bullies take away our credits. We sweat a lot, cheaters take away our glory. We scarifies a lot, a powerful hand occupy what we were doing. We believe in the system, someone sneak the loophole and get away with the win. I can keep writing these forever. However, the list will never end. Can we stop? Will all of these delays and unfairness will stop us? No. Because it is better, die than staying doing nothing. Love your job or study. Keep doing what you are really good. The biggest reward will be the satisfaction at the end of the day. A simple smile of a customer will be the bonus of your day. The success in an experiment will be a little Nobel of your day. Go to bed with satisfaction, you know the only way to do this is doing whatever you are good at. Let rewards to be by products of your life, keep focusing doing at your best.About Author :- I am Sube 苏贝 a PhD scholar. Laowai's 8 tips for a happy stay in China
I have been in China for 5.5 years now. Soon I will be celebrating my 6th anniversary of my love with China and its people. (Actually this blog is a development to a previous blog post which attracted huge attention.) I really love this nation and land. This exceptional love does not mean I am doing well or I have realized all of my dreams here. However, I respect the opportunity that they have given me. My ancestors or I have not fought battles for this nation. We have never even touched a bricks of these gigantic buildings, road networks or rail roads. However, suddenly I have come to this blooming nation and enjoying their system. Anyway, I have seen many foreigners are greatly unhappy in this country. Some foreigners are doing well here while some are not. Surprisingly, I have seen people from both of these groups are talking negative things about this wonderful nation and its people. Therefore, I thought to share some points that I learned from being so long on this land. I hope these tips will help all of us to be happy. #1 You are in a very different country Admit and be conscious about the fact that you are in a different, a very different country. The difference may be bigger than your previous experiences being abroad or your expectations. #2 Learn their language Learn the basics. Ask a road, buy a train tickets and such simple things. This is very important. Because most of unhappy foreigners I have seen can be categorized to this. They do not know language, and more importantly, they are not interested to learn it. They keep thinking the whole world should understand their language, English. They expected migrant sales women to understand their English with accents. They expect under paid old security guards to understand the importance of them and their urgencies to visit their bosses. This self-sufficient nation with billion likeminded people can survive even without knowing the word “Hello”. Admit that fact. This will bring energy to quickly figure out simple dialogs, which will lubricate your day-to-day life. And it will bring you happiness than you ever expected to pursuit. #3 Be patience with your Chinese Learning this language and keep improving is difficult. Even some Chinese are struggling to distinguish some words, example 4 and 10. Therefore, do not worry when someone do not understand your communication. Sometime, even before we spit out the very first word they will come up with “women ting bu tong (We can not understand)”. This is heart breaking or even making us angry. However, we have to be tolerant towards the shyness of them. Please respect their unwillingness to talk with you. Try another person. It is not hard to find someone patience enough to listen your struggle with Chinese mandarin. Humorously admit the proverb of chinsese people “Tian bu pa, di bu pa. Jiu pa wai guo ren shuo putong hua” (I do not afraid heave or earth, but afraid foreigners speak mandarin) #4 Fix an Ali-pay account and get a wechat appIf you are going to stay here without a smart phone which do not have Alipay or wechat payment method, you are going to lose a lot of conveniences in this land. It is open for Laowai now, a lot of countries are now on the Alipay, you can easily configure a one. However, if you are an unfortunate person like me, with very lengthy name, it is still troublesome to make a full account with Alipay, however you can have a partially activated Alipay account which can be used to spend money. (You will not able to receive money) #5 Respect their biases toward western world Whenever a western guy come to our dormitory, I bet with my friends that how long it will take him to take a beautiful Chinese girl to his room. I always win as I bet it to be less than one week. They easily win the affection of the beauties of this nation. I really do not know from where they pick these girls, however they are beauties who may easily qualifying to be the main character of a film or a tele series. Whenever a western person comes to a table with lot of Chinese, we experienced that awkward movement. All of attentions are on him/her and suddenly we disappear from the cycle. In every aspects; love, sex, carrier, education or business they got the preference. I have seen this phenomena make many guys to be unhappy. Do not be. We cannot change a collective attitude of billions of people, which build up in centuries. Rather than complain and being angry, try to find exceptions. They are jewel of people in this country, who care the person and his attitude rather than discriminate you due to your color or race. Try to find that gem. It is hard. But for sure, there are many of them. #6 Do not worry too much about the quality of food and beverage Forget about the history. Go behind the best and popular brands of food and beverage. They are safe now. If you think too much about quality of food and beverage, your happiness will be gone. Period. #7 Escape from your safe zone I have seen many people here find their own people and then spend the whole of their time in China with their own people. Go out together, dine together, and play together. The build their little town right here in China. Like the China town in USA. This is to be avoiding if you want happiness. What is the point been in a different country if you spend all of your time with your own people? You can do it better back there in your motherland/fatherland. I admit this feel safe and comfortable at first. However, escape this safe zone to realize the nirvana of being in China. #8 Chinese holidays are not ours Specially the New Year time, May 1st and national day. If you go out for fun in these times, it is much about suffering among million of them rather than enjoying sceneries. Talk to your boss, get arranged different vacations for you. There are a lot more to say. But lengthy blogs may not be read by our CD fans. I wish you will too add more tips to make our foreigners “Happy”. About Author :- I am Sube 苏贝 a PhD scholar. Single? Live differently.
Being single is a life style. We cannot say it is an alternative. It is well established civil status and there are many people permanently or temporarily living single. Perhaps in primitive societies where stoning and lashes are still being frequently practicing, staying single would be a challenge, however in developed and civilized world being single is not a problem and there is no vulnerabilities even for a single old women in terms of security and welfare. There are millions of people living among us enjoying the single lifestyle, where they can have financial freedom, own choices on everything, selection of carrier opportunities and lot of free time to involve with thousands of people rather than investing their time and energy for few people in the name of family. However, things get awkward when it comes to living among others. Poor people, who do not have common topic to talk about, take the single person as the object of attention. They ask why you are not still married? It would be better if the singles prepared a tape with an explanation. However, nothing will satisfy them as their objective is to show off how happy they are in their married life, and how blessed their life with kids and partner. Then it comes the most disgusting thing, which is the unsolicitated matchmaking. “Hey!Honey, I got a brother/sister of my aunt who is looking pretty young though he is 45, guy had gambling/psycho problem too, Aunt says not anymore. But everything will be ok when you got married to him/her. Do you like?” This drama drives most of single people mad. Additionally awkward proposals and sexual advancements, selfish dating request in which they are the expendable, suspicions from silly women and men about their young kids and partners, baseless gossips … to name few of troubles in single life, especially in Asian societies. However, agony of this matter is non of these problems are the problems of singles or being single, but it is the mind set of others. And did I say about the pressure from family, specially from parents. Oh my goodness, let us not talk about it. It will make my blog post a novel. Singles will never get rid of these problem if they live the life of others. If they work/study and go back to home and live the life of others, I hardly believe they will have a relief. I think singles should uplift their life to a bigger cause. Simply, they should bring their singleness as an advantage and select many things for their life. Climb the carrier ladder to the top Singles do not need listen to mutterings of others who cannot give the 100% to their job. They can give maximum to the job, go extra two miles even three if it is necessary. Takeaway some work to their home, do in it their home study room. Guaranteed they will drive other co-worker crazy. However, they cannot help it. Do they want to live a life of sympathy or life of admiration? They should bring their single status as an advantage. Being powerful is only way to drive most of unwanted things away from life. With money and position, people will have the power of choosing what they really want. Select millions of children than making a one or two children. There are millions of children dying in hunger, cold or even in wars all around the world. Singles can select a bigger cause of saving these innocents kids living in darkest parts of the world. I am sure it will be rewarding and much pleasurable. Join a big society There are very big global movements in world, in which they empower innocents as well as their own members. In this terms they will have a family with millions members who are there to embrace wherever they travel/work/study in world. Travel more Traveling will be wonderful thing for a single as 100 % of choices in the program will be their own, but it does not mean they have to travel alone. They can select their program by own. That is what I mean. Enjoy more, border their pleasures without guilty Everyone knows what I meant. Period. The reason I write this article, as I have seen single people being discriminated cruelly, specially with horrible terms such as left over women or men. Recently I have seen a trend going on shaming the single men now, previously it was women. Statistical stories about 117 men to 100 women… who say this bullshit? Now we are living in global world, world is our village now. Let narrow-minded people to live their miserable life and die their own way, let us all enjoy the advanced and civilized world and bring the civilization forward a little.About Author :- I am Sube 苏贝 a PhD scholar in Zhejiang University.
