Chinese Spring Festinal
People on the street were in a hurry to go home, carrying many large bags. Vendors put up red couplets and character. On the eve of the Spring Festival, many people are very busy. Many people have to go to work in the field with large bags of special purchases for the Spring Festival were also anxious to go home. On the eve of the Spring Festival, our family was waiting for the beginning of the Spring Festival gala after having a delicious Nian Yefan. The dinner that prepared by my mom and dad was so delicious that we enjoyed it very much. According to the Chinese tradition, this night means the union of families and relatives. And finally, my favorite Spring Festival Gala started. While we watching the gala, we also had a nice chat about the past year, and made a wish for a new year. Early in the morning of the New Year, I was awakened by the sound of firecrackers. Sound of firecrackers everywhere, fireworks into the sky, and everyone's laughter added atmosphere of the Chinese New Year. Year after year, the traditional Spring Festival had already become a forever tradition for all generation of Chinese people. The most worthy of my delight is not only in the new year when can wear new clothes and set off firecrackers, but the most important is to receive lucky money from the family, receiving lucky money can also be said is red envelope, because red symbolizes vitality, happiness and good luck. Every family put up Spring Festival couplets, inviting the God and Mammon to bring happy and healthy to whole family, also expressed hope for the New Year. In my memory, the annual Spring Festival is almost the same, lively, happy and peaceful. A few days before the Spring Festival are the most busy time for people, appealing the appealing that, however, is our children's vision. Dad and mom bought a lot of delicious food, and I can only watch helplessly, not allowing to eat, so we eagerly looking forward to the arrival of the Spring Festival. The day of new year's Eve night, of course, is my most happy time, we three people in the family together quietly watching the Spring Festival Evening Gala, occasionally heard outside some sound of firecrackers, will feel particularly interesting. TV funny comedy, beautiful dance often makes us laugh, this laughter with the sound of firecrackers outside the window, it seems the atmosphere more joy. Finally officially celebrated the new year, we pay New Year's call a prime task. When coming to every home, I have to say some auspicious words, such as: "Happy New Year", "Kung Hei Fat Choy" and so on, and mom and dad sent a New Year gift, while the owner will hand me a red envelope, this is my most happy thing. Then I may calculate how to use the money, to buy some snacks? or stationery? Buy something to play was also good. Who ever knew that my “ruthless” mother took ma lucky money back, and I had no choice but to put the fantasy bubble out of my mind. Over the next few days, we pay visits to everywhere, hearty meal, dazzling light, drinking people’s bless surrounded me. And me? The elder brother and me brought a big bottle of drink, drinking enough happily, which know for a while my stomach was very painful, very uncomfortable, regret ah. The 15th day of the Lantern Festival, I will have to go to school, and the beginning of the new school year, would mean the end of the Spring Festival, but on this day, we still want to eat the Glutinous Rice Balls , the atmosphere of the Chinese new year did not diminish, still laughing, still happy, still happy. In this way, the happy Spring Festival in the past, every time I think carefully, always cannot help but laugh out loud......
RMB enters SDR: a welcome change for China and world
The decision on Nov.30 by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board to include the Chinese currency RMB into its Special Drawing Rights (SDR) basket has won public attention and widespread applause. The SDR is an international reserve asset created by the IMF in 1969 to supplement its member countries’ official reserves. It can be exchanged among governments for freely usable currencies in times of need [[1]]. As the fifth currency after dollar, euro, Japanese yen, the pound in SDR, it is said that the RMB will take effect in October 2016. As a routine, the IMF conducts a regular five-yearly review of SDR basket and this time, the IMF board, representing the fund’s 188 member countries, claiming in a statement that RMB is eligible to all criteria. Christine Lagarde, managing director of the IMF, calls the decision "an important milestone in the integration of the Chinese economy into the global financial system[[2]]." Undoubtedly, it is an acknowledgement of the rise of China's economy. As a result, what opportunities and challenges will this major inclusion of RMB into SDR basket bring about? This is exactly what the paper is trying to answer. On the one hand, it is commonly believed that the entry of RMB into SDR is good news to financial market, especially the internationalization of RMB and the representativeness of SDR. Firstly, the accession to SDR has an important symbolic significance for the internationalization of RMB. To a certain extent, it represents the endorsement of IMF and the international society, which are both the recognition of China's growing influence in the world economy, but also conducive to enhance the confidence of market for RMB. SDR currencies are generally regarded as safe haven currencies, and this position will undoubtedly increase the use of the Chinese yuan. Meanwhile, as China is to implement the “One Belt, One Road” initiative in the next few years, as well as encourage the Go global strategy for Chinese enterprises, a better internationalized Chinese currency will definitely accelerate China's foreign investment in coming years. Secondly, the entry of SDR will also increase the representativeness and attractiveness of the IMF. “If RMB successfully joined SDR this year, it will be the first new basket currency in the post Bretton Woods era, and will also be the first SDR currency from the developing countries. This will be an important milestone in the history of the development of the international monetary system”, an analyst said. What’s more, it is a historic victory in IMF for an developing country to be appointed as the issuer of one of the world’s major reserve currencies, making great progress on giving emerging markets their rightful voting shares. As the currency of world's second largest economy and top trader country, excluding RMB from the SDR basket will light the concern of emerging markets that IMF remains an institution run by and for the benefit of advanced economies[[3]].In addition, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) set up by China also exert a huge competitive pressure to IMF. Therefore, IMF's decision is not only the flow, but also enhances the representativeness and legitimacy of itself. And that help improve the current international monetary system, which in turn will support the growth and stability of global economy. Thirdly, there are two strict access standards for RMB, including the volume of the export trade of the currency issuing country, and whether the currency can be used freely in international transaction. China is the world's largest exporter. It is the free accessibility to the RMB that has been the stumbling block. Aiming to create the conditions for the RMB to join the SDR, the policy measures that Chinese government takes will promote the reform and opening of China's financial system, which has a profound impact on China's economy. The effort to join SDR will be transformed into an irreversible process of financial liberalization, forcing China's financial sectors to face competition and improve efficiency. If handled properly, the impact of RMB's entry into SDR on China's financial industry are comparable to a promotion to the real economy in the year when China's entry into WTO. On the other hand, as a saying goes, “every coin has two sides” and the RMB’s entry into the SDR is no exception. In other word, we should also be wary of the potential risks and challenges of this inclusion. Above all, RMB to join SDR means to open capital accounts. Though in the past we have capital control system like a “breakwater”, that is, when non-performing foreign capital comes we can keep it out, now they can come in or go out casually. Compared with developed economies with capital account liberalization, the problem we are facing is that our exchange rate flexibility is not enough while the degree of openness of our capital accounts increase. It is different degree of openness between the flexibility of exchange rate and capital account that lead to impressive failures of the capital account opening in emerging economies, such as the Asian financial crisis in 1997, the financial crisis in Latin America in 2001, which provide valuable lessons for China. What’s more, Once the RMB to become an international currency, we have to face the financial market that is more complex than ever before, and China's existing financial regulatory system cannot be a good deal. For example, although we now lift the interest rate control, our central bank is still not able to establish a benchmark interest rate system to guide the entire interest rate system. So this requires us to further reform the financial regulatory agencies to clear the division of labor, promote communication and cooperation, and then to avoid the emergence of systemic risk. Moreover, the central bank's macro-control capacity will face challenges undoubtedly. In essence, once the RMB internationalization, it means that the traditional policy controlling the number of our currency becomes no longer applicable. For instance, if the central bank’s macro-control capacity are unable to stabilize the exchange rate fluctuations, the impact on export enterprises as well as workers will be catastrophic. The internationalization of RMB is not an overnight process, each step has the opportunity and the challenge, and, just as the saying goes, “one careless move loses the whole game.” It is an unequivocal acknowledgement that China is one of the greatest financial powers. On the one hand, the IMF decision is credited as a huge symbolic victory for China, marking recognition of RMB’s rising role in global financial markets. On the other hand, it also means that the international society expects China to play a bigger role in the international economic and financial system. However, though the inclusion of the RMB in the SDR basket is a big step further forward to internationalization, it is not the end. Consequently, we should take this milestone as an opportunity for further financial reform and opening up, continuing reform process to build an increasingly open and market-oriented economy. In especial, it is necessary to deal with the relationship between government and market, so that the market can plays a decisive role in the allocation of resources and promotes the national economy. All in all, in order to make the RMB truly become the world currency, Reform and Opening-up are still in need. As long as we keep going on this path, we have every reason to believe that the IMF decision on Monday will eventually results in closer interaction between China's economy and whole world, just as the country's formal accession to the World Trade Organization did more than a decade ago. And like the latter, it will leave an ineffaceable mark on history. [1] Definition from Wikipedia. What disadvantages that WeChat brings to our daily life
In this Mobile Internet Era, WeChat has become an integral part of people's lives, and maybe the last thing before going to bed to do is browse circle of friends(朋友圈), the first thing wake up in the morning is to look through WeChat, even between friends they no longer exchange phone numbers but retain only WeChat ID. WeChat for the people has not only a communication tool, but also a way of life. Especially for young people who are good at accepting new things, playing WeChat has become a convenient and fashionable way of life. With WeChat, you can chat with friends at any time, and can pay attention to any information you need, establish your own circle of friends, concerned about others, and also be other people's attention. But this paper is not to discuss a variety of great convenience and freshexperience that WeChat brings to people, on the contrary, what I want toconcentrate on are the WeChat’s potential damages to users who indulge in it. The paper will elaborate this APP’s disadvantages from three main perspectives.Firstly, as far as I am concerned, WeChat does harm to the effectiveness of information transfer and the diversity of information. On the one hand, under the tide of commercialization, news and knowledge is covered with a thick layer of business to some extent. Taking Subscriptions (公众号) on WeChat for example, the volume of reading is the representative of influence and criteria of income. Under such guideline, the generation mechanism of news information has completely changed, and professional analysis and fact confirmation is not important any more. As for Subscriptions’ editors who aim at the pursuit of reading volume, they are able to produce a large number of Web headlines by sitting at home and looking for information on Internet instead of conducting on-the-spot investigations. Some may just reprint from others, creating appalling headlines that cannot bear closer analysis or are glutted with so much Chicken Soup for the Soul. Have Subscriptions on WeChat achieved the effectiveness of the information transfer? I am very skeptical about that.On the other hand, for so many years, with the rapid development of information technology, we have been crazy with a more open, more diverse information times already created by the Internet, and human being are always enjoys continuously developing new technology platform that can share more information. And you may say that WeChat bring more information for us but it is a paradox in my opinion. It is the WeChat that putting us in a predicament of less information. For example, you can find same information from different Subscriptions. So, is it true that there is an amount of information that is being expanded to us? When all people glance over the same news, or circles of friends skim through the same information, we can help questioning that the amount of information we can obtain is reduced or increased? The field of vision we are concerned about is reduced or expanded? The meaning of a public topic we discuss is more limited or more common? On WeChat, information cannot meet readers’ specific needs, which is not layered. For example, a college professor and a primary school student may be exposed to same information from Subscriptions. Undoubtedly, when people turn their eyes to the same problem, so many other issues raised by this complicated society may be neglected, and they are also part of our society which may be even more important. As far as I am concerned, there was a time when people read different newspapers, magazines and books based on their own interests, when people exchanged information with a “1+1>2” outcome, expanding the amount of people's knowledge and information, and thus promoting the exchange of desire between people and people. On the contrary, in today's mobile Internet era, when people familiar with each other gather to communicate, they share a number of similar information and knowledge, resulting in the "1+1=1" outcome.Secondly, WeChat is undermining people’s critical and independent thinking ability. How to form your own judgements in this time, and not to be overwhelmed by the community, is the biggest challenge for the internet citizens.Living in the mobile Internet era, because each person has become a self-media which can be free of external sound, and people have certain common characteristics from different regions of our vast country can easily focus together, resulting in the formation of the Internet community. As a channel and platform for people to connect with each other, the WeChat breeding a lot of group, that is, the WeChat community of people with some common characteristics. And due to the convenience of information flow, people in these communities are very easy to interact with each other and produce a strong public opinion. When you are a member of one community, undoubtedly you will affected by the public opinion. Besides, the circle of friends on WeChat is formed by the mutual connection between acquaintances. Members of WeChat groups do not necessarily know each other, but they have common identity---friends of friends, so we can call the WeChat an acquaintance society, which makes it easier for your independent thinking to be affected by people closed to you. As a successful mobile Internet product, WeChat has been integrated into our life, but fast-food-styled information making people more and more lazily to think, nor have time to think, which cannot help but let us worry about the decline of critical thinking and independent thinking ability.Thirdly, WeChat can also be harmful to our society such as spreading rumors, sowing sedition broadcast over the country, implementing cheating, andprying into other people's piracy, etc. Just as an old saying goes, ”Technology is a double-edges sword”, in the hand of bad guys, WeChat can be a tool of evil deed, especially thanks to the WeChat’s distinguishing features. As you can see, in the spread process within WeChat community, the rumor is no longer limited to the wise. People will selectively blind, not only losing discrimination to the rumors but also adding fuel to the flames. Even someone knows it is not true, but because of the special relationship of "Friends of friends", which make them turn a blind eye, or be compelled to echo, making rumors more prevailing in WeChat community. After repeated by the circle of friends, most people may choose to believe even it is fake news or false information.Meanwhile, instinctive and sensitive emotion easily spread in the group, while the rational and calm mood is difficult to make a difference, which is also true in the WeChat group. Although the group is relatively small, but due to therapid speed of news spreading, provocative or even antisocial speech will betransferred quickly, sometimes resulting in social instability in the interests of minorities. In particular, teenagers are more easily to be instigated by others.Besides, though we call WeChat an “acquaintance society”, there are still many strangers on WeChat due to it’s “People Nearby” function, they may spy into your piracy, or using hypothesized account to implement cheating, whose cases could be found easily on Internet. More than that, someone spending too much time on WeChat, and some of them even play it when dressing, eating, chatting. Consequently, it is no wonder that someone said “The furthest distance in the world is that I'm in your side, but you are playing with the WeChat”, mimicking Tagore’s lines. What’s more, I argue that WeChat reduces the activity of interpersonal relationship to some extent. Take me for example, I used to phone with my mom once two days, but when I open a WeChat account for my mom, we communicate by WeChat. In most case, I am distracted by so much fragmented information that I obviously feel that our communication time is not so long asbefore. All in all, there is no doubt that WeChat does have offered us a more convenient communication platform, but every coin has two sides and WeChat is no exception. We should treat the WeChat with a rational attitude. I do not hope that one day human being has to communicate in a way without humanistic temperature, and I do not want the progress of science and technology finally in exchange for that people is no longer lying on the grass together, talking about their dreams, talking about their lives. I do not want that day to come, but in order to prevent that day, we have to make some changes at the present moment.
Why Chinese visitors abroad are always weak groups?
On the second day, in the morning I took the K03 international train into the territory of Mongolia, the Mongolian border guards were not polite to wake up the entire car. After receiving a passport, here came the business---health certificate. What? Health certificate? Were you kidding me? He repeatedly asked me for health certificate with an unknown accent in poor Chinese. I had no ideas that what he said was Chineses, not to mention the health certificate. Then he went to a Mongolia girl who was in the same train to provide the translation for me. And the crucial point was that after reading the passport, he only asked me for a health certificate, but without this requirement for the Japanese within the same private room with me in this train. I remmemberd that the health certificate was not in need as I asking other people before, which made me confused. However, I received a reply from him that all people need to own a health certificate to enter the country. Then I asked that why the Japanese did not need the health certificate, and he corrected himself that Japanese was in such need but not for Chinese! Well, wasn't that racial discrimination? Wasn't that an unfair treatment? First and no matter whether the Chinese people need the certificate to enter Mongolia, his requirement made me to think that I was in trouble. He selected a very good time when I was helpless and isolated from the outsides because I had no mobile phone signal, thus could't call the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia to confirm that what he said is real, and there was only a Chinese in the carriage. He said that I had to get off the train if I had no certificate which made me panic, so I askes that if there were any other solutions. And, the border staff offered me two choices:to get off the train or to pay a fine. Oh,Oh, so the final puepose of him was to collect money, and that he used such excuse to extort money really disgusted me. "How much?" "Two hundred yuan" Finally, the Japanese was eager to help me pay the two hundred "fine", after all, there was no any redback redback in my wallet, and the problem was solved by this way. After that, I also reflected on why there was no health certificate, but only the Chinese people needed a fine. Maybe because in the eye of foreigners before Chinese are rich but silly, timid and overcautious, and easy to be cheated. What they wanted was your money, and you was going to complish you mission, so you had no time and ability to cavil with them. Let alone that I was in their country, my back hard up, but I was not going to swallow it, when the mobile phone signal back,I would certainly call the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia, and if my country's back is not strong, then how can I?
The national flower of Britain
Nowadays, rose has been well known to the world as the national flower of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Actually, apart from the UK, many European countries and the United States also regard rose as national floral emblem. It is said that people take roses to express their endearment, and because there are thorns on the stems, which could also be served as metaphor of solemnity. However, as we all know, the status that rose has achieved in Britain demands a step by step evolution process. And since the United Kingdom is made up of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, it comes very naturally that their representative flowers are not same. Specifically, the Representative flower of Northern Ireland is the shamrock, a three-leafed plant similar to clover, which is said to be the traditional symbol of St. Patrick’s Day. Patrick’s followers adopted the custom of wearing a shamrock on his feast day. And for Wales, the daffodil is usually considered to be the national emblem and is traditionally worn on St. David’s Day. It is St. David that advises the Welsh to wear daffodil to distinguish friends from foes during the battle against the Saxons. But unlike Wales, Scotland treats thistle, being used as a symbol of defense in fifteenth century, as national flower. The Scottish Bluebell is also seen as the flower of Scotland. And as for England, rose has been adopted as national flower since the time of the Wars of the Roses---civil wars between the royal House of Lancaster (whose emblem was a red rose) and the royal House of York (whose emblem was a white rose). The final victory went to a claimant of the Lancastrian party, Henry Tudor, who defeated the last Yorkist king, Richard III, at the Battle of Bosworth Field. After assuming the throne as Henry VII, he married Elizabeth of York, the eldest daughter and heiress of Edward IV, and these two kinds of roses combine into that is half white and half red, called Tudor Rose, though it is an artificial flower and hardly exist in the nature. Finally, the parliament passed a bill of regarding rose as the national flower on September.23, 1986. Not only that, the rose has a place in the western traditional culture. According to a Christian legend, Jesus was betrayed and crucified, and his blood drops in the soil, then the roses grown under cross. And other tradition has it that in order to save her lover, Venus ran in a hurry, rose thorns tore her hands and feet, thus the blood red roses. Subsequently, people regard the red rose as a token of love. In Greek mythology, Rose is a masterpiece created by the Zeus who used it to boast his ability. Besides, the ancient Persian poet once said in his poems: He mixes rose with a snake, pigeon, honey, the Dead Sea water, apple, soil, and pinch a woman. British people put the elements of the rose in the film because they love roses. For example, in film “The Slipper and the Rose”, rose is not just a seasoning agent for love, but also often linked to the fairy tale story. What’s more, "The Nightingale and the Rose" is a famous fairy tale written by Oscar Wilde, a famous British writer, and Madonna also writes fairy tale "the Rose of England" for her own daughter, which has broken the record of the release of book "Harry potter" all over the world. It seems that the fairy tales about rose have beyond counted, and the rose itself has become a plot in stories. The national flower refers to their domestic famous flowers as characterization of country, signifying territorial integrity of the country, a long history of civilization and splendid culture, as well as the spirit of national unity. It reflects the love of the motherland and the strong national feelings, which can enhance national cohesion. Britain is arguably the oldest representative democracy in the world with a relatively moderate political reform process, which corresponds to the rose’s symbol of peace, love and friendship. Britain’s neutralizing national character distinguishes the UK from countries like France or the United States whose histories are marked by periods of sudden, and often violent, change. Roses have been appreciated throughout centuries and are considered one of the most popular and widely cultivated flowers in the world today, with over 150 species and more than 20,000 hybrids available. We hope that roses can pass such a message across the world: Love and loyalty, cooperation and peace, friendship and strength, encouragement and hope, courage and dedication. We hope that even those children in the slums can also see the hope through a petal of flower, and to pursue the sun of brilliant tomorrow. We also hope that perhaps one day we can love each other just as the dialogue in “the Nightingale and the Rose”: "if you give me some red roses, I would like to dance with you."
A Humanistic Buddhism practice
http://bd.kuwo.cn/yinyue/494556?from=dq360#From November 27th to 29th, I was invited to participate a writing scholarship meeting in Dajue Temple, Yixing. Just as the master said, this 3-days trip might be the most meaningful thing to us in year 2015, and also an unforgettable memory. I would also like to share my harvests and feelings from this trip with you.Master Hsing Yun, the founder of Fo Guang Shan in Taiwan, dedicated his life to the institutionalization, modernization, internationalization and humanization development of the Buddhism. It is Master Hsing Yun that rejuvenates the Humanistic Buddhism which has reached a “unity of sacred and secular”. Apart from that, he also revives the Dajue Temple in Yixing, Mainland China. For Master Hsing Yun himself, writing is a significant tool of spreading Buddhism. On the first day, weariness along the journey all disappeared at the moment of arrival. The warm welcome from organizers gave me the greatest warmth in that cold winter day. I was appreciated that I was offered a comfortable room a bit like Japanese Buddhism temple style. From this experience, I feel strongly that the Humanistic Buddhism is compatible with the Humanism tradition, which can be illustrated by many details such as temple’s barrier - free design for disabled people. Master Hsing Yun shows humanistic wisdom by emphasizing the advocating of a Buddhism-style life and a lifestyle Buddhism. To be honest, what I have experienced are people-oriented solicitudes from this practice. This trip subverted my view, also gave me a lot of inspiration. I always thought that Buddhism emphasized on abstinence and asceticism, with a mortification for capital accumulation. However, Master Hsing Yun encourages the laymen to earn money within the ethical base. His money attitude is perfect and harmonious, which is of guiding significance to the development between the non-profit Buddha’s charity and market economy. He warns that people should explore the source of money rationally and property distribution should be fair and open, so as not to corrupt in the future.During those days, undergraduates, Master’s and doctoral students from brand universities of home and abroad, sharing their papers and ideas with all of us. The papers offer comprehensive and in-depth research based on Master Hsing Yun’s books. Their analyses are so deep and angles are so wide that does broaden my sight and inform me of my imperfections. What impress me the most is that Master Hsing Yun’s works have the religious meaning and the literary flavor. Writing is a way to practicing and spreading the Humanistic Buddhism for Master Hsing Yun.Consequently, when wondering around the modern temple, I cannot help comparing Chinese Buddhism reform to the religion reform in Europe which is a massively spiritual and social revolution. The reform began in Master TaiXu, and shines in Taiwan’s Humanistic Buddhism, reconstruction of Buddhism faith, reversing the decline of Buddhism marginalization since the Ming and Qing dynasty. And Luther as well as Master Tai Xu known around the world as theorists, so are Calvin together with Master Hsing Yun both as extraordinary doers, and if putting these two religious reforms in a modern perspective, compared to traditional religion, we will find so many similarities which are enough to ponder. However, the Humanistic Buddhism is not to deviate from the teaching of the Buddha, nor is it the secularization of Buddhism. Actually, Humanistic Buddhism is a “modern new Buddhism”. In turn, the reform serves to carry forward Buddhism development. As a member of the Chinese Communist Party, undoubtedly I would believe in science and own a firm belief in communism. But I also believe that Buddhism culture can provide spiritual comfort and emotional place for confused people in the social transition period. "Chinese dream" gives the Chinese culture with a deep connotation of the times, while the Buddhist culture is rooted in Chinese culture for many years. Master Hsing Yun is committed to promoting the Humanistic Buddhism, and promoting the universal value of compassion, harmony and tolerance, which is collaborative with the original intention of building a harmonious society. By setting up a moral benchmark in people's hearts, people may behave themselves even while they are alone.Based on the practice ground, absorbed traditional nutrition, “Humanistic Buddhism” is an amazing flower during Chinese Buddhism modernization process. I am very grateful for being invited to this meeting and touched by the warmth of their welcome. I sincerely hope that Humanistic Buddhism will make great contribution to culture development, era of harmony and world peace.Master Hsing Yun illustrates Humanistic Buddhism by multimedia. The Duo Bao Tower ,owing modern equipment insides.
Lost in the university
At the end of August last year, we were put into a large campus when we hadn’t yet completely recollected the pleasant flavor of the summer carnival. The new world is full of novelty as well as confusion. Suddenly, we find that there are a great number of roads that lead to the future, but we have no idea about which one is our own way. Three years later, perhaps we will laugh at our once young ignorance, or rejoice in the change and growth in more than one thousand days and nights, but, I believe, what sticks most in my mind will still be the initial confusion. This kind of confusion is more obvious in the coordinates of our era. We move forward at an ever-accelerated pace but to a lost end. We can say that it is this era that makes us more confused---we come across Bill Gates, Steve Jobs , Mark Zuckerberg, which makes us, who compliance with the road set up by our parents, to get down to question the meaning of university and the halo that brand-name colleges bring to us. Perhaps you are now the one who get top GPA in the top university, or the one serves as a leader of the most famous students’ association in the campus, however, the value you can create for society unnecessarily matches one thousandth of a college dropout ten years later. Therefore, what should we do? All the time in my mind, University is a wonderful word that brings together so many charming and shining vocabularies---youth, pursuit, dream, freedom, etc. and thus motivates and inspires me to get through the college entrance examinations. Nevertheless, when I am really at college, those words seem a little unfamiliar, and a series of problems strongly occupy my mind. What’s the purpose and meaning of university? To find the answer, not only do I watch Steve Jobs’ speech but also try to find a way forward in the speeches by Kai-Fu Lee and Yu Minhong. In reality, Job’s speech in Stanford University does provide me with a lot of inspirations. What impressed me the most was the viewpoint that we should have the courage to follow our heart and intuition. They somehow already know what we truly want to become. Besides, in this year I participated in many volunteer activities, and experience a full of joy in the process of helping others. Also, in a lecture, what impressed me the most was the viewpoint that colleges should focus on the training of students’ thinking mode and cultivating the spirit of exploring the truth while students are supposed to shape the morality and pursue their dreams, which was instructive for me. It also occurred to me that a professor argued that four things that a college student should do are finding the suitable occupation, seeking the lifelong companion, cultivating the sound personality, mediating on the meaning of life. All in all, I gradually understand that university is a place to acquire wisdom, feel love and keep the faith instead of spending four years to gain others’ recognitions.Spending several years in college campus doesn’t mean that I am a real college student. Have I realized the importance of these four years? Am I ready to make the best of these four years and the available resources to cultivate a goal-directed, responsible, educated, diligent, passionate and persistent self? If I continue to move on with the high school student’s thinking, what I can get is perhaps a perfect GPA, a good GRE grade, or less, which is not my wishful college. After the long-time thought, I locate my target as To grow and help others grow, To live and help others live. Accordingly, I make a plan for myself, which I call it E&E Plan---Explore and Enrich. Specifically, For one thing, Explore is a outward route. I will participate in some commercial competitions and social practices to explore my future road and have a good understand of my role and effect in a team. For another thing, Enrich is a inward route. By reading, traveling and cultivating interests and hobbies, I intend to improve my inner self-culture. I do believe that we should dabble in a rich seam of books, which can lay a solid foundation for our further development.http://y.qq.com/#type=song&mid=0011jnSr0lOfZD I finally realize that college is not a lost paradise .It is the real and important four year in my life---A four years from teenager to adult. A four years that we can possess the most free time when we are young. A four years that we begin with a similar starting point but differentiate significantly when we graduate. I might not say clearly what university is, but I firmly believe, this is the four years that I must cherish, enjoy and fully experience!
