Say No to cyber-violence
2017-01-02 Say No to cyber-violence

There has been unexpected noisy on the Internet especially on Weibo since the first day of 2017.Because a hot actress, Zanalia Zhao, probably lip-synched at a Countdown Party on the last day of 2016. Meanwhile sorts of voices welled up from all directions via Internet. Numerous fans sided with their idol and held a theory of conspiracy from someone with ulterior motives. While more people preferred to believe in that she has a weak character. She was pushed into the centre of public opinion once again with on surprise.

As for me, it is too much for the keyboard warriors to abuse her groundlessly. Under such circumstances, many stars, particularly some young entertainers, are suffering from cyber-violence all the time, other industries in the same way. When it comes to Actress Zhao, I recalled a hot cyber event several years ago whose heroine was exactly her and who was not as much famous as nowadays. At that moment almost every netizen hoped that she would have been kicked out of entertainment circle right away. However, brave as this stubborn girl was, she just overlooked all the gossips, even some slanders and deformation. On the contrary, she putted all her energy and endeavor into work in return and owned several weighted prizes plus more and more applauses, flowers and the industry identity. I admire this kind of fighting and her strong minds.

So rightly or wrongly, cyber-violence seemed to be much more popular all over the world now. But not each of us would ignore various voices in our daily life completely. We could encounter with the virtual violence now and then. Some vulnerable and sensitive groups might be blown down because of it. When I was looking for solutions about how to deal with the violence, it turned out most of the netizens were inclined to dispose of it with the violence in return.

However, personally, I couldn’t agree more with several viewpoints from another famous actress Han Xue, who just made a speech at TEDx about her life last month. The speech had nothing to do with the cyber-violence. But I could still quote something from it.

In her speech, she called for people being positive pessimists. Yeah, exactly, be the pessimists, due to the violence being an ordinary state on the net, which means we would only accept the fact no matter how disgusting it is. And we well acknowledge the ubiquity of cyber-violence. Be positive and be brave. It is easy to be understood that you make best effort on everything and you have a strong willing of winning the game. Then you will make it. Time alone will tell. The dirty voices from the Internet just like annoying flies around would disappear totally one day even though you did nothing. Being positive pessimists not only stands for adamancy, tranquilly and gratitude in our hearts, but trying our best to protect and safeguard the spiritual home in a most effective and useful way such as appropriate rebuke without any dirty words. Languages could produce harms and weapon at the same which depends on the usage.

PS: It's weird that all the comments here were cleared out unwittingly. Is that a warning or a punishment for me? After all, I left here for a long time but still alive. Thank gosh.

Happy New Year, everyone.
