Several months ago I took a teacher’s go classes on the internet. His classes were very interesting. Unlike other teachers, he didn’t introduce the concepts and playing rules at first. Instead, he talked about his childhood game-playing story and compared the go to the game of getting the most land. Thus we should form a universal and deep view. We should pay attention to the further effect of one step on the whole situation rather than to the temporary result. His words made me feel that I was a general in command of my soldiers instead of just playing a game. Although the teacher didn’t introduce many concepts and methods, he let me know the essence of go. And his lessons made me think a lot and gave me a new horizon.
At that time, the AlphaGo won the Korean player Mr. Li, which surprised me a lot. The go game is complicated, and I thought computer can’t anticipate a component’s thought and react well. However, with the development of big data, the AlphaGo has stored hundreds of thousands of ways. No matter what the player go, AlphaGo can choose a perfect way based on previous game experience. Some people worry that computers are going to be a challenge to our human beings since they can overpass human in many aspects. However, I don’t think so. After all, computers are tools for human beings. We should and we can make use of them to let them help us rather than hurt us.
