I applied for the Chinadaily Chinese blogger contest, so I have to recall the English learning experience in my life.

I started to learn English when I was twelve years old in 1988. At that time, there were no PC in our daily life. Students had to recite the new words and grammar every day and did lots of English exercises. After I went to college for further study in 1994, I began to use PC as our daily tools. The professors in university always encouraged us to learn English and PC science except our main course, because, in the process of globalization, we always use PC and English as our working tools.

I have developed some habits in college in terms of English learning. The first habit is that I always purchased English magazine names “The world of English”. The second one is that I always went to English corner to practice my spoken English.

After graduation, I kept on learning English. Although, there were ups and downs in my life, but English learning is my best accompany.

In 2003, I was diagnosed with chronic headache and I have to take medications for the rest of my life. I was fired and I was depressed.

With the medications, I got better and better. One day, I found an online care sharing community website located in Canada for the patients by Yahoo search engine. So, I joined the community immediately in 2006.

Now, I can communicate with the people, who is like me, all over the world. We chat and encourage one another. We talk about all kinds of topic and I get a lot of encouragement.

It has been ten years since I joined the online community. My English has been improved by communicating with westerners. It helps me with my recovering and I benefit from English learning and enlarge my knowledge.

In my spare time, I always watch CCTV news channel and listen to the program ‘news desk’ ‘China 24’ ‘global business’ ‘culture express’ ‘world insight’ and ‘crossover’ hosted by Wang mangmang, Ji xiaojun and Tian wei ect.

Now my son is a primary school student and he starts to learn English. My son and I always learn English together. I think I would keep on learning for the rest of my life.
