Chinese  universities have the best degrees money can buy.

In the bent degree stakes three nations really stand out, Indonesia, Russia and India. Half of the degrees awarded are frankly not worth the paper they are written on.

But students want to only know "practical knowledge(s)", which for some reason does not include discussing the materials from textbooks. Students are great at sitting and doing nothing. I had one student explain it this way -- "After Gaokao it doesn't matter what you learn because all that matters is the name of your school." Such a sick attitude IMO.

When I taught in China, I wasn't allowed to give a grade lower than a 60%.

This also reminds me of my friend's 6 year old son. I saw his report card, and there were three possible grades -- "excellent, good, average". Yep -- "average" is what we call BAD now. aiya.
