It is risky to live anywhere.  All you said may be true, and is true all around the world but to different degrees.

No matter where we live,  whether for a lifetime of or for an interlude there will be things that are not to our liking.  We can choose to let them bother us or we can choose to live where for us the good out weighs the bad.

I have enjoyed 20 months of living in China.  I will be back.
Attitude : Life is 10 percent what happens to you,  and 90 percent how you react to it.

Interesting comments.  I like living in China and traveling around.  Everyone I met in Los Angeles, USA told me that with my two masters degrees, I could teach English and live quite comfortably.  Not so!  I found out quickly that at 65 yrs old (good health, I might add) I am deemed too old to work here.  And yes, I have trouble renewing my visa all the time, expensive and a bother.  When I go home to the USA, I have culture shock and want to go back to China right away.  I live simply here, doing artwork, writing stuff, taking online courses and doing a great deal of reading.  And yes, I try to learn Mandarin.
