Do not you think English is the main language in the world(especially between the governments)?Other foreign languages also have people to learn but the amout is very poor.As we all know,you mostly must have English lever certification(TOEFL or IELTS,etc) if you want to go abroad.At the same time,English is an open language and it has powerful development through varied ways.

In 2014, the globe's lingua franca is English. If you go to the Middle East or India or wherever else, you will likely encounter English speakers.

The global economy requires English. How many people speak English in the world? Close to a billion!

With that said, most Chinese have appalling English even after years of mandatory education. Perhaps a review of how second languages are taught in China would be better than eliminating the ability to communicate with a wide part of the world's people?
