The Fuzhou Tigers rugby team also competed with four other strong rugby teams: the Macau team, the HK Police team, the Guangzhou Rams and the South China Agricultural University team.
“The competition offered a good chance for the players to gain experience,” said Wu Lusheng, secretary-general and a cofounder of the team, adding that the match also boosted morale for players, as they are preparing for the 2014 Gulangyu Rugby tournament, which will be held in Xiamen on May 10.
A total of 10 male rugby teams and four female rugby teams took part in the Guangzhou tournament. Four female players, for the first time, joined the Xiamen Mazu team as leading players and won the female bowl.
Established in 2010, Fuzhou Tigers is the first local rugby team. It has now grown into a team with more than 60 male and female members, up from four when it started four years ago.
