In this picture taken in 2011, Tuersun Tuheti digs out a piece of jade on the 11th day of his digging trip. He is so excited that he puts the jade in his mouth. He said this piece of jade is estimated at 90 yuan (about US$14.5) by others, but he still hopes it can be sold at a higher price, i.e. 300 yuan. Thus far he still hasn't managed to get it off his hands.

In this picture taken in 2011, 16-year-old Abulizi joins a local jade-carving crowd. Graduating from junior secondary school and having very few skills, Abulizi has to help support his family by forming a "jade partnership" with others.

In the picture is a jade trade market in Hetian, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The seller and buyer determine the prices by shaking hands, all the while remaining silent. It's cash on delivery.
