Britain does not have a constitution, yet calls itself a "constitutional monarchy", which sans "co ...

The Constitution of the United Kingdom is the set of laws and principles under which the United Kingdom is governed.

Unlike many other nations, the UK has no single constitutional document. This is sometimes expressed by stating that it has an uncodified or "unwritten" constitution. Much of the British constitution is embodied in written documents, within statutes, court judgments and treaties. The constitution has other unwritten sources, including parliamentary constitutional conventions (as laid out in Erskine May) and royal prerogatives.

Historically, "No Act of Parliament can be unconstitutional, for the law of the land knows not the word or the idea.

Since the Glorious Revolution in 1688, the bedrock of the British constitution has traditionally been the doctrine of parliamentary sovereignty, according to which the statutes passed by Parliament are the UK's supreme and final source of law. It follows that Parliament can change the constitution simply by passing new Acts of Parliament. There is some debate about whether this principle remains valid, particularly in light of the UK's membership in the European Union.

Best strategy, Scotland remains with UK, have a Central Bank of its own and adopts the EUD as its currency. Bank of England becomes Bank of UK that deals with two currencies.

WE HAVE HERE AN ADMISSION THAT THE U.K. INDEED HAS NO CONSTITUTION, AND THUS, THE SCOTS SHOULD BE FREE TO FORM THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT, AND RATIFY THEIR OWN CONSTITUTION.

It has become painfully obvious to everyone, ahem, that Britain's monarchial system not only has no clothes, but also has no constitution!  No constitution!!!

The Scots have been most patient in waiting to tell their English neighbors what had been obvious to them for nearly a millennium.

If only for this act of kindness and patience toward their English brethren, the Scots deserve the right of self-rule and sovereignty.

If the English people were allowed to vote there is no doubt that Scotland would indeed have its freedom from English subsidy.

Scotland referendum No campaign turning negative

The campaign to prevent Scotland from breaking away from the United Kingdom has appeared to be turning negative, Press TV reports.

With an independence referendum scheduled for later this year, some officials are skeptical about Scotland’s chances of success following the possible Yes vote.

British Prime Minister David Cameron has been accused of leading a cynical No campaign on Scotland’s independence and Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has been called a bully after saying that “If Scotland walks away from the UK, it walks away from the pound.”

European Commission President José Manuel Barroso has also supported the No campaign by saying that Scotland would find it almost impossible to remain as an EU member should the four million eligible voters choose to leave the union in September.

However, Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond, who is leading the Yes vote, answered these remarks firmly on Monday.

"No one with a semblance of understanding of Scottish history and indeed the Scottish character would have made a speech such as that. To be told that we had no rights to assets jointly built up is as insulting as it is demeaning,” Salmond said.

He also added, "To be told that there are things we can't do will certainly elicit a Scottish response that is as resolute as it is uncomfortable for the No campaign – it is 'yes we can'. It is a sign of just how out of touch and arrogant the Westminster establishment has become."

According to a recent ICM poll, commissioned by Scotland on Sunday newspaper, support for independence has risen to 37 percent from 32 percent, recorded in September 2013. The survey of more than 1,000 over-16s between January 21 and 24 also found that support for a No vote in an independence referendum has dropped by five percent.

Back in last November, Scottish Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that Scotland would have its independence day on 24 March 2016 if Scottish people vote to break away from the UK in a referendum on 18 September 2014.

The independence referendum could result in Scotland’s break-up from the UK after more than 300 years of political union.
