How Lenovo Can Compete with Apple Computers

Apple Inc. made a name for themselves by ignoring Microsoft and creating their own unique and impressive operating system. This is what made them stand out.  All the other computer manufacturers have had nothing to offer: they have been clones of each other and all use the same third-party operating system: Windows.  And now they all got screwed with Window 8, resulting in a severe drop in their computer sales.

So, Lenovo should create their own unique operating system, one for the world to use.  It can be based on Linux, just like Apple  Macintosh is.   Create the best operating system in the world!  Make it even better than Macintosh by making it more open and vender-neutral, more configurable like Windows 7, an even better GUI than both Macintosh and Windows 7, drivers for every hardware possible, and so forth.  China needs some uniqueness and originality: that is how you create your recognized brands; you can't just be a clone of foreign companies.

Last thing: offer a better value than Apple Inc.: their products are over-priced.  A lower price would right away give you a competitive edge over Apple Inc.

Apple didn't just gain by ignoring Microsoft, they kept most software development "in house". They also produced cult products like the iPlayer which helped sell other products with the same brand name. Using cult and fasion to ludicrously inflate the prices of products far above their value was also a masterstroke.
