Chenglin lost her only child in 2009. He daughter and son-in-law died of gas poisoning in 2009. Because she thought no one can replace her daughter, some of her relatives advised her to give birth to another one or have a test-tube baby.
Chenglin, who used to be a doctor herself, knew that this decision is quite dangerous. In 2009, after being refused by many hospitals, Chenglin found a doctor in PLA 105 Hospital who agreed to do the test-tube baby for her.
Before going into the delivery room, Chenglin was very optimistic. She held a “V” to her families and said she would make it through. During her pregnancy, Chenglin experienced hemorrhoea, excessive pain and body dropsy.
