Chinese director Zhang Yimou took to Sina Weibo on Sunday to admit that he and his wife had violated the country’s one-child policy and would accept punishment for their actions.

In a statement posted to the verified account of Mr. Zhang’s office, the director said he and his wife, Chen Ting, apologized for their actions and would cooperate with the government.
