On November 24, a man pretended as a disabled person was caught by police in Xian, Shaanxiprovince. He leaned on a sliding board, pretending that his legs were disabled.A pedestrian saw through his trick by touching his legs and reported it to thepolice.
On seeing someone taking photos and video of him, the “disabled” man turned another way, attempting to flee. However, he was stopped by an urban management officer and was required to stand up. Many pedestrians came up to touch his legs and found that his legs could react to human touching. Under the pressure of the urban management officer and the passers-by, the man stood up reluctantly.
“We have had many similar cases,” said Mr. Sun, a secretary of Xian relief station. When they discover fake beggars, they ask for their personal information and try to contact their family. Sending them back to their homes is what the staff at the relief stations normally do.
The man started to smoke cigarette in panic after he was required to stand up. A passer-by told him that he should not cheat pedestrians for money. The man was very indifferent to the advices given by pedestrians and police.
Then he was taken to the police station. According to a police, the man said that his family name was Wu, and he came from Henan province. He was begging for his brother. In the daytime, his brother would him here by a minibus. After a whole day’s beggaring, he would be picked up by his brother at night. The man went to his friend’s place and promised that he would not beg any more.
