Despite having been put through the wringer of superpower geopolitics, all for the sake of a few islands whose oil reserves are literally just a drop in the bucket for China, or even for the Philippines, China has decided after full deliberation, to forget and forgive, and focus instead on its humanitarian duties to the sick, homeless and starving millions left behind by the devilishly unusual storm called Haiyan internationally, but called Yolanda, by the Filipino people.

Without much fanfare, and very obviously ignored by the British and ex-colonial media, 100 Chinese physicians and 200 Chinese nurses and paramedics rolled up their sleeves to save as many Filipinos as they can, quietly and competently.  China's Peace Ark has 300 beds, of which 20 are intensive care, with a dozen operating suites, and is loaded with nearly 5 tons of medicines.  It has arrived, to write a new chapter of friendship between the two old neighbors.

This is the way help should be.  No fanfare.  No seeking for fame and attention.

The Philippine President Aquino III personally thanked China for its help.  This is a good beginning of a new chapter for both governments and peoples.  Let us keep it that way forever.

You really have to search the western/US media.
Sadly, entertainment news sells more ad space/time ...

The Cold War used to be grandiose in breadth, but the present Cold Shoulder War is quite petty.  You can count on the British, Australian and Canadian media, and their extensions in the Americas and Asia, to censor any news that shows China's humanism.  Only they and their sidekick, Japan, are supposed to be, ahem, civilized.

China's big hearted help that directly benefits the victims of the typhoon is worth more than the millions of dollars that the victims never see and will never get, used to buy favors for the donors from the Philippine government.  China has more shirts and pants on the bodies of the survivors than the other donors.  "Made in China" is getting quite a renaissance in Leyte and Samar.

well, the western MEDIA don't count for Filipino voters...
help when it's needed most will be remembered...
an Aircraft carrier with heavy armed boys isn't doing a thing on the street... they got plenty army boys and police themselves to wander the street with hungry and bleeding folks all over...
