"There is absolutely no necessity to convince anyone at all of China's good neighbourhood."
China is in dispute with the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan and Taiwan. How many of your other neighbours are close allies? You can change this, starting now. Many countries have given aid to China in the past. Now, it is your turn to show your generosity and care.

"One does not help another who does you harm."
Then China is doomed to being regarded as petty, vindictive and immature.

No country can solve all the world's problems, but together we can at least improve the situation for those suffering disaster.

Giving $100,000 after a disaster like this is about equivalent to giving someone a 0.5 RMB hongbao. If there is no sincere compassion, then just don't give anything at all. This is only an insult.

China is a rich country.

RIch in moral decay. Rich in bunk. And trying to get even richer by swal ...

However callous some Chinese officials and netizens may be, they are all better than YOU, because while they did not help, they caused no harm.  YOU, and the Sons of Britain, assembled, and through your Asian sidekick, Japan, have perpetrated GENOCIDE on Australian/NZ aborigines, Filipinos as they struggled to stand up against Spain and become an independent nation in 1899, Koreans condemned to the Japanese sword and sex slavery because Teddy Roosevelt decided to look the other way, and more than a hundred million Chinese who died as a result of the Opium Trade forced upon their country with European cannons and bayonets.  SENECA is the least qualified person to criticize China because compared to the crimes against humanity perpetrated by his ancestors that he is whitewashing, China's delayed and diminished help to Haiyan's survivors is not even worth mentioning.

If MacArthur saved the Filipinos by returning on October 20, 1944 and landing on Leyte, it was to make up for lost opportunity and lost time, because he had failed to prepare the Philippines under his command at the time that the Japanese attacked, to muster any credible defense.  Instead, he left in a hurry, supposedly under orders from FDR, to hole up in Australia.  This decision was not necessarily a bad one, because the Philippines was lost anyway, but it was not a fair one for those tasked with defending Bataan and Corregidor to the last man, only to be starved to death, or tortured to death on the Death March under the "highly civilized" Japanese "best friends of America" (if you care to believe the British propaganda through the US press from Madison Avenue).  There was a debt to be paid, and General MacArthur paid it back, without any interest, however, as the bulk of US reconstruction money went instead to Japan, where he was enthroned for half a dozen years in glory and comfort, while the survivors of Japanese savagery in the Philippines were given the crumbs.

China's netizens need to wake up to the fact that they all belong to one big family, called mankind, if they wish to make their thoughts public on the net.  Failure to grasp this idea betrays their unpreparedness for a global role of respect and responsibilty - and they go together, unless China wishes to follow the footsteps of the barbarians who have invaded her and her neighbors in the past five hundred years, and even now, are helping Japan re-arm and one day nuclearize, to deal China a lethal blow one more time.  Being a part of the human family means sharing the sorrows and sufferings of the less fortunate at a fundamental level that is more basic than mere ideology, nationality, culture or religion.  It does not obligate China to help everyone everywhere, but within reason, those at her doorsteps who are starving, shivering, and sick, due to a natural calamity, fully deserve their quick assistance, and in a quantitatively meaningful way.  China's foreign ministry failed to uphold the self-respect of China, and thus caused China to look like a barbarian in the eyes of the barbarians who raped and ravaged her and her neighbors for centuries.  Let this lapse be burned into the hearts and minds of its people and officials, to never let down the tradition, the values, and the humanity of all Chinese, ever again!

For one who boasts about the Philippines has the highest growth rate in Asia, why you need donation ...

China may have never asked but it sure didn't turn help down when it was offered either....Wenchuan ring a bell anyone?

This bickering is despicable. People are people and in times like this, it behooves us all to help.
