Should we find amusement out of National ordeal and humiliation?   [Copy link] 中文

I was simply stunned by how over-seas students dressed up on Halloween: Red Guards in the Great Cultural Revolution.

They were wearing dark blue uniforms, tight belts, holding little red books. I doubt if they even know any history during that period of time.

Do they know how much misery Chinese people suffered and how caotic a society it was? Some may say this is merelu a form of Action art. But I don't think it's a good idea to make a fun of their own country's disgraceful history.

What's your take on this?

This is supposedly taken in Manhanttan Subway. They should be students in New York University.

The local took a photo with them. What kind of message were they delivering?  "We are shameless"?
