When I go to my father's I help him 'irrigate', and then I can eat his produce: corns, tomato, aubergine, cucmber, bok choy.

He has some trees: pepper, persimmon, date.

He hates mint - they grow too fast and get rampant.

The biggest part of his 'field' is allotted to grapes. During the Moon Cake Festival (September or October) we sit in the garden and eat and seriously discuss if he should use some fertiliser or even pesticide - a reall farmer once advised: the harvest could be much better is he works like a real farmer.

Aubergine, interesting, your english is influenced by a third non-anglophonic countrie's language.
A romanophone or germanophone language?

I can ask my linguist friends if I get a chance. I think when we study a second language, we get influenced the most by the first teacher(s). Then it comes to the working environment, cultural tendecy, idiocyncracy, etc.

Anyway, I thought that aubergine is the long one and eggplant is round. Correct me if I'm wrong please. I am learning about gardening. When I was a kid I wanted to study agriculture.
