Stingy to a fault, China's expenditures on the defense of its vast territory is a behind-doors laughing stock around the world, even though everyone seeking a piece of the China pie keeps a straight face in front of the camera, denouncing its "threatening" character.  How China can expect to defend any one border if faced with three or more border conflicts is anyone's guess.  There must have been a new re-analysis of China's real capabilities that emboldens Japan to directly challenge China on Diaoyudao, and which will do so even more boldly in the coming days.  China on the other hand, is still talking about its Chinese dream, just like the Greeks debated how many angels can sit on the head of the pin while Athens was being attacked.
