Taiwan was very close to becoming a Japanese prefecture at that time, if it were not for China's threat that secession would mean automatic war of reunification.  At some point, China must have the guts to say it would do something regardless of all consequences, and do it, or else, its claims of sovereignty would mean exactly NOTHING.  Such is the case right now with Dioayudao.

Can Chinese sovereignty exist if China is afraid to defend its sovereignty?

Of course not.  But this is what China is being forced to act like it "has to" do as regards Diaoyudao.  No balls at all, for such a large country.  It is shameful.  Sad.

Sovereignty is when you stake the whole to keep a part.  Failure to put "all in" in defense of any part means loss of that part.  And eventually, of the whole as well.  A challenge of defending a part, is actually a challenge of the will of the whole.  Failure to defend a part is failure of the will power of the whole, a defeat of an entire nation, not of an island or province.  If Diaoyudao is lost, China, not Diaoyu fishermen, lost.  Every one of China's 1.3 billion people would have LOST.

No, taiwanese have been influenced by various culture, and that's why they better know than you what is branwashing and what is to "be the dog " of someone.

The demostration against nulcear energy (of course censored in china) last week is the best proof that show that taiwanese may not still have a perfect democracy, but they have a far better citizen consciousness than in west countries where many peoples even don't vote.

You should also avoid to insult taiwanese "dogs", you know, because if they are dog, then don't forget you are their brother
