Report says severty① percent of people couldn't trust strangers
“At present, the overall trust ② in Chinese society has further dropped to the bottom line with no more than③ 60 points. Distrust has further expanded among people with less than half of the respondents feeling that "most people can be trusted"④ and only about 30 percent trusting strangers. "⑤The Blue Book of Social Mentality 2012-2013 that was released recently⑥,⑦has aroused strong repercussions in the society⑧. According to some experts, in order to restore social integrity, we should build⑨ a sound system⑩ of laws and regulations, ensure strict law enforcement, and increase the cost of law violations.
My comments & suggestions:
① seventy (spelling)
② overall trust level/indicator
③ dropped below the bottom line of …
④ we usually use single quotes ('…') anywhere within double quotes ("…")
⑤ leave a space after speech mark (spacing)
⑥ by the Institute of Sociology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
⑦ drop comma
⑧ 'generated strong public reactions' would be better
⑨ 'enact or improve' laws … (not 'build' laws …)
⑩ 'sound system' may mean 'integrated audio equipment'; better say 'effective laws and regulations' or 'laws and regulations that are sound'
