This can be attributed to the blind worship for everything foreign. For them, foreign moon is brighter than Chinese moon.

But why is that? I can never understand this fixation with foreign things. China has been open long enough to know we're certainly not perfect and trying to emulate us isn't the right way for China!

Maybe it's because China, like a nouveau rich, hasn't prepared to play the role of superpower. Behind its economic prosperity lies the political and educational backwardness.

The thinking could be attributed to China's modern history full of humiliations since the Opium War, when China was brought to her knees by the Western cannons and gun powder. After more than one and a half century, psychologically many people in this nation still have yet to get back on their feet.
