@Seneca

Re: "Burma is a 'colony' that has to abide by its big brother's orders and instructions ... "

You implied that Burma is a colony of China. That is China is "colonizing" Burma.

I disagree.

China treats all countries, big or small, as equals, unlike those you know who. They always dictate and do those "regime changes" all the time, even if they are democratic and are duly elected by their own people.

President Eisenhower was warning about the "military-industrial complex." They are always finding an excuse to start wars to sell their outdated arms and grow wealthy. They bankrupt America with perennial wars lasting decades and killing innocent soldiers and the unfortunate natives.

BTW, do you know the meaning of "colony" and by extension, those imperialistic colonizations?

You can find the European colonists practicing "genocide" on the Red Indians, annexing Mexican lands, enslaving Africans.

You can find them "squabbling" among themselves for huge chunks of Africa, America, Canada, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, India, outer Mongolia, Siberia,....

Not China.

When Nehru thought he had the backings of America, Britain, and Russia and that China was weakened by the Korean War, he made a grave miscalculation. Despite many peaceful attempts by PM Zhou En Lai, he gave the order to clear out the Chinese. He was basing on the unlawful MacMahon line cracked up by the imperialist British and even pushing further behind it.

He got a good lesson. The Indian army was soundly defeated and in full retreat. Many top generals and heavy equipment were captured. It was like a hot knife cutting through butter. The Chinese could easily take the broad Assam plains.

China unilaterally stopped and returned all the equipment and released all the troops and generals and got back behind the original line of control. Only condition: to sit down and talk peacefully.

Contrast this with Israel and Russia. Israel gave back the Gaza, etc after Egypt accepted Israel conditions. It won't return the Golan Heights to Syria, unless Syria comes to terms.
Russia won't return the Kuriles to Japan, without some terms or concessions.

Who kept military bases all over the world? Not China, not even one base.
Who send surveillance ships and spy planes near others' shores? Not China.

Who are the colonists and who aren't?

During cyclone Nargis, who asked for warships to dock before relief supplies are delivered to storm victims  in dire situations? Not China.

China forgave Burma's over 220 millions dollars of debt and again another over 200 millions dollars another time. It built the Naypyitaw international airport and also the Naypyitaw Parliament building free for Burma. How's that for a "Greedy" neighbor.

China "cleared" the KMT remnants in the Shan States for Burma in a secret agreement with PM U Nu and Defense Minister U Ba Swe. China decimated the crack Jap imperial troops in hard fought battles in Northern Burma's difficult mountain terrain. The Chinese make it easy for the British in the other plains of Burma. China never asked for anything for these sacrifices in the hundreds of thousands of soldiers.

Who are the real colonists?

People are not blind. They know who is bashing China and creating "hate" propaganda and fanning the flames of war between neighboring countries.

For your information, 'seneca', and for the readership on this forum,

Seventy thousand Nationalist Chinese troops died in Burma (now Myanmar) Theatre fighting the Japanese Army and where is the war cemetery honoring their sacrifices?  You know 'Taukyant' War Cemetery, don't you?  If not, you're not a Burmese but a stool pigeon.  You know what a stool pigeon is, don't you?  Any one with a rudimentary background in English would know.

At some point in time, renegades who return hatred for China's help will need to be punished.  These infidels do not understand kindness, only strength.  And such punishment should not be token only, but should include significant territories of the infidels, if not their positions in their government, in what is known as "regime change".  For too long has China forgiven those who wronged her, that ingrates think they can always get away with their perfidy by appealing to China's innate goodness.  It needs to be different this time.  If Vietnam hurs a single Chinese sailor or soldier, it must pay with a third of its territory.  And if Burma tries to point its guns at China, China should take over the northern third of its territory as well.  Ingratitude must have a price, or all the beneficiaries of Chinese kindness will eventually all become infidels and traitors.  China has no intention of invading any neighbor, but if its neighbor has any intention of aiding others in the invasion of China, it deserves to be invaded pronto!

In the Myanmar -West  relationship following proverb characterizes the situation best:

Yes, certainly a valid point. Reforms could stall at any moment. I think the West has been to eager and that the regime is still very much the same in the way it treats its people. Hopefullt this will change for benefit of all Burmese. There have been very positive signs, however, which you cannot ignore.
