Here's another good article:

Republicans complicit in the ‘failure’ they rail against

I recommend a reading of "Who Stole the American Dream" by Hedrick Smith.

The polarization of USofA began during the Carter administration.

Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell ( from Virginia ) started the ball rolling with the socalled "Powell Memorandum", by the time Jimmy Carter became president, the lobby-industry outnumbered congressman by a factor of 130:1. The Republicans poured so much money into lobbying it knocked the ineffectual Democrats senseless.

Whereas the 50s, 60s and 70s were decades during which the middle class grew and grew, after Carter, the middles class shrunk continuously until a shadow of its former self, hence the "disappearing middle class". As well, the median income for the middle class shrunk, leading to anaemic consumer purchases.

Readers following my postings know I have persistently and consistently urged China to grow its middle class organically and build a circular economy. Aside from foul lies and abuses, no response. I have lost patience.
