Day 5
Today was the first time I tried the so-called Xisha Watermelon  grown out of "sand and stone." Xisha watermelons became famous overnight, after they were selected as the designated watermelon for guests at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

It tastes so sweet and watery. You got to try it when you're on the way to Shapotou scenary spot.

They told me that the biggest melon weighs more than25 kg/

Here I am in Shapotou Scenic Zone. It was so much fun! I slid on the sands which was so cool. And I tried the Sand-surfing(sit on a big open air truck and let it surf on the sands), It was so exciting. I wanted to do ii again, but the ticket for that was kind of expensive. 150 for each.

Shapotou Scenic Zone, 22 km west of Zhongwei County, is characterized by a cliff-like sand dune some 70 metres in height and 200 metres in width. It is also a landmark for the lTengger Desert. "Bell tolls at the Sandy Slope" is a famed scenery.

The local people have managed to harness the desert by planting grass in chessboard pattern. Travellers may venture into the Tengger Desert by riding camels, or raft the Yellow River aboard sheepskin dinghies.

Rough deserts, limpid lakes, verdant oases, vast grasslands, fruitful orchards, mysterious rock paintings, and the primitive simple life of desert nomads are all best source for shooting the western charm.
