June, 12, People’s Daily, the most important state-owned media published a report to praise for DPRK’s education system which was satirized by Chinese netizens.
According to the report, a kindergarten in DPRK has a big mess hall which can service 500 children eating at a time. And the kindergarten provides children 5 meals a day. They have professional nutritionists to arrange food for the children.
The report also mentions that DPRK has already implemented free medical care to the people and once a pregnant woman come to a hospital, the meals also free to her.
But the praised words aroused Chinese netizens’ criticisms and sarcasms. The netizens post on Sohu and other commercial sites, even the Global Times which belongs to the same system of People’s Daily, to show their understand of this report and point out unfair stories.
Some netizens quotes the data from report of World Food Programme (WFP) about the fact of lacking food for years in DPRK.
A netizens named “zcq1111” commented on Global Times Online: North Korea claimed that they will build their country to be a great power surpassing the Great Britain and the United States of America in 2012. And DPRK will soon become a developed country. China, however, staying in the primary stage of socialism and will not be changed in the next 50 years, keeps support North Korea the so called great power huge amount of assistance. Who is sick, North Korea or China? Or both of us are sick?
As for the 5 meals issue, “南雁” said on weibo that even if you (the reporter of People’s Daily) treat the children in DPRK as fool, still should not treat Chinese people in the same way! How rock they are to give children 5 meals a day! We should ask them to help us, not much, only let the rural children have 3 meals a day is enough for us.
