The two men were pictured sitting at the edge of an elevated lawn with shells apparently spat out by them on a nearby sidewalk.

Two male foreigners caught spitting out sunflower seed shells all over a sidewalk in Ningbo have enraged many Chinese with their abrupt response: "It doesn't matter. Here is China. Look, everyone is doing the same" when they were urged to stop.

It came two months after British snooker player Ronnie O'Sullivan was scorned for smoking in a non-smoking press conference room in Haikou and saying: "They don't let you (smoke) in England, but in China you can do what you want. I like it like that."

The two white men were pictured sitting at the edge of an elevated lawn with shells apparently spat out by them on a nearby sidewalk.

The local man, who got a bad response when he asked them to stop, chose to expose the badly-behaving foreigners on the Internet.

His post got more than 30,000 clicks within one day, and the story has been reported by major websites in China.

While netizens are voicing their disapproval of the two foreign men, one said China is also to be blamed because the country, unlike Singapore, lacks tough punishment for those people who go against public morals.

Normal civilized men will practice good manners and proper etiquette in public, while idiots prefer to emulate people with bad manners and improper etiquette.

Uncouth uncivilised artsholes. Such behaviour is unacceptable in most places in the west and these morons should consider that they are in reality ambassadors for their nation where ever they are in the world. Just because the locals do something doesn't mean that a guest in a country should do such things, no matter if it's China or Malawi, Beijing or Mogadishu.

Honestly bringing up rape and crimes is one thing and should be made an example of, but bringing up sunflower seed spitting and causing a big storm over it shows Chinese people small mindedness and stupidity on a whole new level. Chinese tourist spit all the time when they are in a foreign country, and I probably won't even be bothered unless they do it in my face. I hope this article is a big joke.

Before netizens get up in arms over 2 foreigners spitting seeds, which is a habit common among Chinese, they should reflect on the bad manners of Chinese tourists flocking overseas.  Local people have plenty of negative feelings about  cutting in line, being noisy and loud, ignoring no smoking rules.  They behave badly at home but taking  bad behavior overseas leaves a very bad impression.
