This is a very good lesson to be learned for the Chinese!

Assad's success in routing out the NATO backed Islamic terrorists from Syrian soil was partly due to the cooperation of Russia and China in applying the UNSC Veto; blocking a cunning NATO military intevention on pretext (the Libya replay), but the Syrian military operation against the 'rebels' succeded was largely thanks to Russia's naval presence.

Iran, Russia naval presence in Syrian waters message to US
Sunday Feb 19, 201203:10 PM GMT, Press TV

A senior Iranian lawmaker says the presence of Iranian and Russian naval forces in Syria’s coastal waters is a clear warning to the US to refrain from any possible military adventurism.
On Sunday, January 8, a large Russian navy flotilla led by an aircraft carrier arrived at the Syrian port of Tartus in the Mediterranean Sea for a six-day port call, to show Moscow's solidarity with Damascus.
