Why did mainland China choose the socialist way, not the capitalist way, in 1949?

The "Four Big Families" used the government powers to grab benefits for themselves before 1949. After 1949, In theory from textbooks, most of party members and government officials in mainland China were and are from Workers （工人） and Farmers （农民）, not from capitalist including entrepreneur(资本家), land owners（地主）,speculators (投机者), traders,  etc.
