Russian writers honor President Assad

The Russian Union of Writers has conveyed its sympathy with the embattled Syrian president by honouring Bashar al-Assad for his contribution to resistance against global hegemony.
“We give this award to President Al-Assad for his steadfastness in resisting the Western hegemony and the attempts to impose their dictations on the Syrian People," the Syrian news agency quotes the chairman of the Union, writer and historian Valery Ganchev, as stating.
Ganichev underlined that Syria is a great example of an Islamic state where a range of confessions, ethnic groups and opinions co-exist in harmony.
"We wish success to President Al-Assad in solving the current crisis and we believe in this success," Ganchev added.
The Syrian ambassador to Russia, Riad Haddad, expressed gratitude to the Russian people on behalf of his state for their support for the Syrian people.
Russia has been urging dialogue rather than foreign intervention in Syria, where the UN estimates more than 5,000 people have died in unrest, most of them victims of a bloody crackdown led by Assad’s regime.

They honour someone who turns his troops on unarmed civilians? WOW, neat huh!
How, exactly, is Assad resisting hegemony? The NATO/allied powers have no intention of militarily intervening there. Political pressure is all they can do right now and that comes mainly from the Arab League, not the west...so, this seems a bit wrong.

Great leader Assad is defending his country from terrorist USUKIS proxies.

Payed chaos makers trained in Washington and London are no match for Assad and his army.

Plan was create chaos and move in quickly under guise of humanitarian intervention but things didn't workout as in Libya.

People resisted propaganda and stood by Assad.

Evidence of paid agitation in Syria can be found where please. Do  you not think that it is just a natural extension of the Arab "spring" that has been taking place throughout the region and that the citizens in those countries where huge protests ahve, or are, taking place that they're tired of not having a choice of leadership in what could possibly be "rigged" elections. It seems that many of the leaders who've been ousted were the top dogs in their respective countries for decades and maybe the people had had enough. It doesn't take Washington or London to foment discontent in cases like this but, I'd equally suspect that they're not displeased by this happening...the protests etc.
