All I could say is that it is a collective effort.

It's true that we need visionary leaders. But w ...

I have no doubt because the "old" mindset would probably still prevail.
I think that first, we should thank Mr Deng, 2nd, the people with minds open enough to enact his vision, 3rd, the average Chinese person who built this China we see today and 4th, those investors, both domestic and foreign who paid for it all.

China only need to be "MEDIOCRE" to become a "GLOBAL DOMINANT ECONOMY"

ha ha ha

Ouch!
Say thanks to the GEOGRAPHIC ADVANTAGE of China.
Say thanks to the HUMAN DEVELOPMENT SKILL of CHINA'S ancestors.
Say thanks to the SELF CORRECTING capability of the CHINESE CITIZENS.
Say thanks to the COMMON SENSE, moderation of it's citizens and leaders.
Say thanks to the HERITAGE and CULTURE developed over the years.
Say thanks to the CAPABILITY to learn, and ADAPT to new STATE MODELS.

.......and keep that "fingers crossed", China will be really "GREAT" if it can developed beyond "global average".

Clown rudi,

CHAIRMAN MAO is her greatest man of all time.

If the National Chinese Soccer Team classifies to the nex World Cup,

also it must be thankful to Mao?

your Mao fanaticism makes you ridiculous

put things in it's right place

Mao freed China, ok. later other more capable leaders changed the history,

they changed China for good

don't be sick, give some credits to whom really Chinese people has to thanks.

It's MEDIOCRE already for centuries

What China is experiencing is same as many rich entrepreneur with lower background, they made their fortune no by themselves

They need foreign customers to success and to keep running its fortune.

That is why China always will need the foreign investments.

Nobody reach the success by itself

If someone keeps you down and then let you go. Should you thank him for letting you go and blame him for holding you down. Maybe the diplomatic way is a combination of both

Well said NotFear

China's prosperity is due to Deng Xiaoping who at stages was politically ostracised by the great chairman.

Anyway, Mohammed Ali was the greatest, not Mao - he wouldn't have lasted 11 seconds in teh ring with him and I'm including the ten count in that number.
