Tips on learning Chinese

Honestly，Learning Chinese is difficult  for ordinary Chinese people. It  takes about 7 years from learning pinyin and chinese characters to writing a decent article. By the way, my english is very poor， I am not sure my expression is clear enough。

On the other hand，Learning Chinese is simple，you should only remember about 2500 commonly used Chinese characters，then it is simple for you to read any non-professional books （except ancient  books ，that's too hard even for Chinese ）.

Only 2500? I thought at least 5000 is required.

Believe me，there are only 2413 characters  in  《骆驼祥子》（a medium-length novel that has about 160000 characters in total） and there  are only 3136 characters in All the works of Mao Zedong，As for me, I 'm Chinese who graduated from the University for a long time, I know no more than 5000  characters.

In china，an university graduate can master only about  3000  characters, it is only 6500 or so even for a  chinese professional graduate.  So，what  is the most important？ not vocabulary，but  using the characters that you have learned.
