The mother was helpless.  The motorists and most importantly the police should be stopped to help her take her son to the hosptial

Xuerengui,

You are not being helpful.  You are not answering my question.

I read the story as you presented here and I know what happened.

(1)  My question to you is :  Had you been the "mother", what would be the normal thing to do in such an emergency ?  In short, what would YOU do if your child is hurt ??

(2)  Okay, even if the mother is helpless, what about the father ?  Why didn't she contact him ?

(3)  If her purpose is to take her son to the hospital, shouldn't she be stopping a TAXI instead of the motorists ?

(4)  Is her son alive or dead now ?

re: whampoa

1) The mother should call the ambulance which she no doubt did because the ambulance arrived.
2) She was waiting for the ambulance or kind hearted motorist or policeman to help her.
3) She was waiting for the ambulance or kind hearted motorist or policeman to help her, saving her son was the first priority over contacting her husband, since the motorists were on the scene and the ambulance was coming.
4) The child died on the way to the hosptial.

Sorry I didn't post the whole story which you can no doubt find it with google.

Funny that OP was making a case that passers-by ignored a person pleading for help and one poster tries to deflect the attention of the issue away from the indifferent attitude of the passers-by to the mother and OP's reaction. So it's not about the indifferent passers-by anymore. It's about making OP answering some questions. It's about the OP. And sometimes about the mother. The mum is 'questionable'. Whatever. As long as you don't talk about the indifferent attitude passers-by, it's fine. Ignore the problem. That's the message. LoL!
