Question:
Can government manipuate housing prices?

1. All lands in mainland China are owned by government. (written in constitution)
2. Housing tax is decided by government.
3. The rest of costs including construction cost actually have a relative low weight in the housing price.

So, government has the ability to drive the housing price up or down directly.

Inflation is a cosmological theory developed by Alan Guth of Massachusetts Institute of Technology ...

oh...Maybe.

But we can still use "inflation" to describe an economic phenomenon.

My apologies, but I do not know about economic inflation. I would have liked to have read the grea ...

Hehe, You are kind. I don't know much about economics too, though I studied a little several years ago.

Tell you the truth, now I don't have enough leisure time to check the great economists which you mentioned on the internet.

BY ANONYMOUS :

Economics is NOT a science, but rather, a mathematically constructed system of belief and obligations that serves the interests of those who set it up, at the expense of those who have no choice but to follow its dictates. It is not based on immutable laws of nature.

Those who treat economics as a science are setting themselves up to be duped, exploited and ultimately, destroyed. Whenever in peril, all government of sound mind will have to ignore the dogmas of economics and act on their common sense to secure the livelihood and future of their people. Given a choice between following "correct" economic precepts and getting food on the table for the people, a real leader would choose the latter without any hesitation. This was what Zhu Rongji did, to his great credit.
