In 2004-01-10, Central government published a new regulation to halt the new golf course project. That time there were 170 golf course in mainland China.

Today, in 2011, there are about 600 golf course in mainland China. That is to say, more than 2/3 golf course are illegal in mainland China.

In Beijing, of course, such illegal practices are still taking place. Today, water resources counted by per capita in Beijing is 1/3 of water resources in Israel. The total golf course, both the legal and the illegal, in Beijing cost 0.4 million household drinking water. (0.4*3 = 1.2 million people)

One journalist went to Beijing municipal government and wanted to interview local government officials. a government official, Jin Ligang, threatened the journalist, "I will ruin your camera if you continue to take pictures". Of course he refused to interview. Just as the journalist planned to leave from the local government building, the government official, Jin Ligang, robbed the camera from that journalist.
