1. Why were the economy of "Asia's Four Little Tigers" hurt a lot in Asian financial crisis in 1997?
What happened?

2. Were South Korean economy hurt a little that time?
Were Mainland Chinese economy, the economy in Hongkong, Taiwan, and Japan hurt nearly nothing?
Why?

3. Why do people seldom talk about "Asia's Four Little Dragons"("the Four Asian Tigers") and "Asia's Four Little Tigers" ("Tiger Cub Economies"), but "the Five Brics" now?

"Asia's Four Little Dragons": Hongkong, Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea.
"Asia's Four Little Tigers": Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philipines.

How did people in Thailand and Malaysia get rich?
Low productivity of China's economy,
the competition state-owned economy,
the privatization of local government-owned companies to improve productivity
workers laid off to improve efficiency  
Huge bad assets in Banks
Central government invested Trillions of yuan to save banks
the privatization of public-owned apartments
the beginning of the reform of housing market
(So far: official statement: great achievement with a little problem. Civil society: a little achievement with serious problems)
the beginning of the reform of eduction (including the privatization of kindergarten )
(So far: official and civil statement: not solve the root problem yet)
the beginning of the social welfare reform, escpecially the healthcare reform and retirenment pension reform
(So far: healthcare reform not successful, retirement pension formed 2 different systems: one for official, another for ordinary Chinese)
