The former president of China, Ji-ang Ze-min, was a student at Jiaotong university.
The president of China, Hu Jin-tao, was a student at Tsinghua university.

How many students can study in the best universities in China that time?
Of course they are Chinese talents.

Many Chinese officials are also like  and Hu. They are also Chinese talents. They retired from government, but they should have the opportunities to contribute to our society. They have the rights to earn more money. They have the rights to realize their life value.

However ......

An assumption:

X guy was the head of a department of Central government.
X guy was in charge of the laws and police making in A industry, including drafting, discussion, and approval.
Many of the present government officials in that department were promoted by X guy when X guy was in power.

What would happen if X guy was hired by a major company in A industry after X guy retired?

The famous Kanghua accident

Deng Pufang, the son of Deng Xiaoping, was the chairman of Kanghua company. Many managers are retired minister-level (province-level) government officials.

For example, the former government official in petroleum department was in charge of petroleum business. Kanghua company got huge benefits from the loopholes of laws and regulations.  Many loopholes came out in the Reform. Many laws, departments, ....were and are changed in the great reform. Many companies were in reconstruction.
Cars.
Foreign currency.
Tax.
Corruption.

Of course, it raised huge conflicts among CPC members and among ordinary Chinese. In 1988, Sate Council of China began to investigate and at last dismissed Kanghua company.

would the the "freedom" fighters in China do the same if they are "free"?

Good point.

If freedom fighters turn out to be a new generation of dictators, then revolution or reform shall never be stopped. This situation is exactly what is going on in PRC. Once were revolutionaries against KMT, now  ccp members are no different than those who they have overthrown in 1949, perhaps even worse. Things have changed, people have changed. The calling for justice, for freedom, for democracy, for returning rights back to civilians, must go on. It is not about some specific persons trying to be new controllers of country machine.
