The F-22 was supposed to be the shining armour in the Penatgon's closet, the silver bullet in its holster.

Yet, it hasn't been involved in any of the myriad of conflicts Uncle Sam has inflicted on himself recently. Why not? What's the problem?

At $418 million per plane, it's the most expensive fighter jet ever produced, by far.

The USAF has 180 of them, and wanted more.

Budget considerations, however, sealed its limit.

Joy flights?

They can use it for joy flights- if each flight costs $1 million, 418 joy flights will recoup the cost of the plane.

I guess F22 is not even the latest model in the US Air Force. There is already the F35.
