Two widows are bludgeoned to death in the northern Indian state of Haryana, for allegedly being in a lesbian relationship.

".... being in a lesbian relationship ...."

What does the law in China say about lesbian relationships?

Police arrested a 23-year-old man, the nephew of one of the women. He was on parole, having served a sentence for rape.

Eyewitnesses told police he killed his aunt and another woman in full view ...

Correspondents say that so-called "honour killings" are relatively common in the area.

Timby, US is relatively a new country with no solid history background. So I can forgive you. You weren't bought up in a 5000 year old tradition. Pathetic  you !!!

Atleast it doesn't happen with government's permission. It will be treated as a crime and the guilty ones bought to justice  than an event that was approved by a government.

Exactly!!!  Big difference!

manoj, how is the government trying to discourage honor killings?

It had almost become 200% less than what it was in 1947. Had to commend the British they did eradicate the most brutal of them but such things do happen occasionally especially in rural areas . In a country of 1.2 billion people an occasional ten or twenty cases is negligible. But in about 20 years they will completely disappear.

1. No government supports honor killing. JFenix, your media and church are lying to you.
2. Iran may execute 1 every 10 years while the culture of honor killing murder hundreds annually.

Sometimes, I wonder, why your religion gives you so much hatred, bigotry and racist bias.

S ...

I think #2 kind of cancels out #1?

India does not support honor killings.  The criminals will be punished.

In Iran, it's the government that orders the killings.

You don't see the difference Timbo?
