It's called "security dillema". That an incumbent power will be very nervous watching a new power rising fast. The incumbent power will try to portrait the new power as bad as possible, whether to "regulate" the new power on how to behave, into the direction the old power wants or to create a pretext to halt the new power's development.

Or maybe the reason is more simple, that the whites rule the world since industrial revolution. A non-white power won't be welcomed to join the rich-powerful nation club.

I think you are missing the point. China is always portrayed as wrong when politicians can get away with it. Why? It is the same strategy that has been used by Chinese politicians for decades (centuries? millenia?). Get your population to focus on an outside 'threat', and you have to be less accountable at home. Chinese, American and every other country's politicians have always known this.
I guess the trick is judging which criticisims are fair and which are just distractions for the domestic market.
