China has submited its request to use the chinese-character-formed domain name since the last November.
China is applying to use ".中国(zhongguo)“ as its domain name and is waiting for the International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to assign the chinese-formed domain name to China.

It is believed that China will get the authorization to use the domain of ".中国”
Now the letter-formed domain name for china is ".CN" .
If China finally gets that permission, maybe the chinadaily.com.cn could also be reached through " 中国日报.中国“

However, I doubt whether it is necessary to use the character-formed domain name ".中国"  instead of ".CN"

The name volumn of Chinese character-formed is quite smaller than that of letter-formed domain.
Also, if some website apply the chinese domain, that will make internet-users confused.
besides this, the letter-formed name is more convenient and accurate than chinese-character-formed domain name.

the last thing we need to consider is that whether  if we use chinese characters, the foreign visitors may be blocked by the bar of language.
