Well, I'm not sure if the meaning of the flag is/was officially spelt out.  It'd make sense in the CR not to emphasise both xiao zichan and minzu zichan- sounds a little too capitalist road..

As ...

During my boy scout/girl scout (R'G'dian) days...

I used to recite it just as routinely as I did recite "Five Star Red Flag Flying Proudly In The Sun" and "The East Is Red"...  It was mandatory before class each and every morning. We all had to stand obediently in unison in the school's courtyard; sang both songs; and salute the flag before starting the school day...  I mean how many of you can still recall those routines???
[size=-2]
That said, when I migrated to Canada, before class every morning, I had to sing God Save the Queen and O'h Canada plus a prayer each and every morning before class because the schools where I lived was a all Cathlic Institutions so for those of you who think China is all about bnrain washing, think again before the west is no different -- it's even more ruthless so don't crap us about it...

Those days might have changed however now that China is filthy rich and old habits have a tendency of dying out fast in China because the 21st century (the modern age) is catching up to it warp speed...

Yes, the 4 smaller stars represented the 4 distinct classes of China's socialist groupings and business (or capitalism or socialism with a Chinese characteristic) is part and parcel of this Chinese socialist philosophy from the very start)...

And, yes, as words goes, Japan did tried to buy the rights to both the lyrics of the Five Star Red Flag and the design of the flag itself because they know both will inspire patriotism in the Chinese mass but sentiments those days was all about Japan resistance and you can imagine how wild life was then...

Putin's a killer. This was the claim made by Fox News journalist; Bill O'Reilly during his recent interview with Donald Trump. Trump's reply came in the form of a simple question. What, you think our country's so innocent?

What in my eyes is a pity is that China doesn`t cherish their architectual treasures. I saw pictures taking by plane of Beijing in the 20`s....a beautiful city. When the communists took over Mao had nothing better to do but to tear down city walls etc.But that was only the beginning.....in the last 20 years the destruction of hutongs became worse and those few hutongs left for the tourists are without life coz the are turned into souvenir shops etc. Beijing could be a city China yould be proud of..showing the Chinese cultural heritage...but what has it become?! the same in shanghai and any other Chinese city....instead of preserving the ancient/old traditional building the are teared down....what a loss!! Go on like this and Chinese cities with their skyscraper will all look alike...without soul.
That said.....I love Shanghai!

Wishful thinking!
.
Wishful thinking?

Tell that to the sea upon sea of Chinese flag waving Chinamans [size=-2](you like that word don't you )...  I don't they it's viewed as wishful thinking on their on their part ...

I think they are very serious about their art...

Example: Do you know the meaning behind the Olympic Stadium in the '08 Olympics???  The Birds Nest signifies the age old Chinese practice known as "hundreds of birds from far and wide coming flocking to China to pay tribute to the Chinese Emperor" meaning China view itself as the center of the heavens and countries from far and wide will ultimately bow to our mastery as the heavenly empire:) ...

Why are there so many confrontations between house owners and greedy authorities trying to demolish their homes?

If you have a Chinese mistress, and I suspect you do otherwise you won't be in a Chinese site as this... Then BEWARE!!!!  Reason: The Chinese animal are driven by greed and greed turns the Chinese animal into ridiculous and irrational wild animals animals as in the case of these wild and illiterate land owners...

Example and facts: Armed with the world human rights organization as a weapon to be used against Chinese authorities, all these illiterates can think about is money money and more money and they will go to all lengths in order to get at this money and that includes putting/forcing authorities into a corner as a means of demanding for more than what the property is actually worth...

This is all made possible because Chinese authorities have no idea that even in the west, that if city hall wants your property to built a road or to built whatever they wanted on it, and if they offers you fair market for your property, then that's what you'll get and not a penny more than that and, if in due course you refuse give in, you get carried out come move out day and you can't @@@ about it either because it's known as part of the bylaws...

Meaning these people who fights Chinese authorities over land disputes are so illiterate they make me puke when I see how shameless they are and how it makes me just want to call it quits because Chinese authorities are so easy pickins' that in the end, in order to avoid the western bashings, they would cave in and kowtow to these irrational people instead...

You are totallyoffthe rocker in saying ALL Chinese feel 'proud' of seeing their cities being transformed into what they are.

You think a Laowei like you who is probably so sold and hypnotized by :) the responsive and permissive you get everything you wanted Chinese Mistress :). who are likely amongst elements of China's various crazy acults and who probably hated the guts of Chinese authorities would know more about my country than a once upon a time Chinese boy scout as I do??? You gotta be crapping me...

To all those of you who states that Chinese high rises have no Chinese souls to them:
How many highrise/skyscraper in the west sports a Castle or Cathlic looks which is what western culture and soul is all about??? None whatsoever! Give me a break guys and don't make me laugh because I don't feel like laughing these days...

And YES!, cities and sky scrapers the world over now a days have no souls to them with the exception that it is symbolic of what are a modern world and age and modern world and age have no identities to them except the image that says engineering marvels...
