Is the Death Sentence wrong?

If someone has committed a crime involving taken someone else life, should they pay with their own life?

If so, what is the most human way of executing someone.

What other crimes other than taken a life should be accountable for the death sentence?

What if the decision to execute someone is wrong and an innocent person is killed?

Yes, it is ethically and fundamentally wrong!

Death sentence is nothing more than state sponsored vengeance killings.

It is  good and reasonable.

The only thing I dont quite agree is the way they exacute the convict....

In fact. By torturing them to death (broadcasting nationwide LIVE)  can it play a much more safety-guarding role for the whole society, also express a warning to the potential evil ...

Brutal cruel as it might sound, u cant deny how effective it will be!

Death sentence is ineffectual

There is no evidence that it acts as a deterrent against crime. it is nothing more than state sponsored vengeance killing.

There is nothing good about a death sentence, it is unethical.

I agree with this statement.

For example the US has one of the highest rates of killings.

Many of the criminals have the following traits about them.

- They are mentally disturbed psychotic killer that have no concept of the consequence.
- They kill in a moment of intense passion or anger.
- They believe if they kill that they will never get caught.
- They see little value in there on lives, go out and kill and know the consequence.

These are just some examples.

The death sentence deterrent will not stop people with these behaviors.

What is"unethical"? And when?

It all depends on the civilization progress and the resources situation of one country to decide whether to put the very dangerous criminal to death or separate him/her from the rest for a long period. If the country is very lack of resources to feed or guard this dangerous criminal, I don't think it's unethical to put him/her to death. Otherwise it'd be unethical for depleting the resources on a dangerous persons while the resources can use on others.

I agree that some developed countries should not implement death sentence on the ethical principle.

About vengeance, keeping a person in prison for a long period is also a kind of vengeance if there's no way of "reforming" him/her.

As for those who believe that no one should have the right to take away other's life. Again, I can agrue that no one should have the right to take away one's freedom.
