It saddens me to see the Burma thread decay into a political rock throwing contest when more than 100,000 are dead and many more will probably die from lack of water, shelter and food.

Here is a list of Humanitarian Organizations you can donate to. You can find some of these organizations in your own country.

Action Against Hunger; preparing to launch an emergency intervention of water supplies ActionAid; working in Irrawaddy, identifying the needs along with funding and emergency response

American National Red Cross; has pledged funds and supplies in support of Myanmar Red Cross's effort

American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC); identifying needs, sending funding and emergency response

American Refugee Committee; distributing emergency supplies; pending approval of entry visas a rapid assessment team will be deployed

AmeriCares; assembling life-saving medical and other humanitarian supplies to be shipped immediately

Catholic Relief Services; supporting the emergency relief and response efforts of the Caritas Internationalis network

Direct Relief International; partnering in Thailand to offer assistance to medical relief efforts

Doctors Without Borders; distributing food and treating water; planning a mosquito-net distribution to prevent malaria

International Committee of the Red Cross; distributing preliminary and essential relief items International

Medical Corps; securing emergency supplies to be sent to the region

International Rescue Committee; deploying operations, logistics, water and sanitation experts

MAP International; working with partner organizations on the ground in Myanmar and other agencies

Church World Service; is coordinating relief operations with a comprehensive assessment on-going

Global Giving; providing emergency medical care, shelter, water and food

Habitat for Humanity; assembling a technical team to support long-term shelter reconstruction efforts

Latter-day Saint Charities; have a field team in-country in disaster response

Lutheran World Relief; planning a response on behalf of the Action by Churches Together (ACT) network

Operation USA; responding with shelter, water purification and health care supplies

Salvation Army; dispensing rice, clean water and other relief

United Methodist Committee on Relief; expects to aid recovery efforts as opportunities become available

World Concern; pending a needs-assessment, expecting to follow-up with food, water and other basic needs
