I doubt anyone would give a stuff.

Incidentally Buckingham Palace now has a Muslim prayer room, something one would expect to cause a considerably greater stir than a chinese gift shop.  Not a squeak, though.

Maybe

It should be shut down. But then so should all of those silly little stalls that sell junk, the hawkers, etc that just swarm around the entrances - it just completely spoils the atmosphere. I don't think there should be any commerical ventures inside the outer-most gates of the Forbidden City, except one or two official places near the exits, out-of-sight when you go in, etc.

Given that "Made In China" is stamped on most stuff in UK Gift Shops, I think you might have been beaten to it Mr C
