Talented, creative people are always in short spply wherever you live in the world.

Japanese, European, or American multinationals are competing for hiring those people worldwide.

I don't know about Newsweek but time will tell. In general there is no free luch in this world, and in principle, no pain, no gain.

Mr. Tong,

Don't get too "work up" with Japanese-Amerikan strategies and the propaganda officer's response here.
You have to "visit, understand that nation" before a conclusion can be arrived.
I have been to "India" many, many times and have talk to their business elites.
India problems is multi dimensional.

No doubt, aid from USA, Japan will help but there are severe limitations.
I suggest you make a visit, stay in INdia for 6 months...
You'll soon realize what i said.

Green Draemon,

If you read Japanese literatures on China's business environment written in 80s, authors with extended interactive experience with the Chinese wrote exactly the same things about Chinese society and culture. They refered to such social customary as taking shower at work place and all.

India does have peculiar social arrangements. When Suzuki, Japanese auto company, first set up a factory over there, they had to deal with many problems steming from local customaries. To illustrate an instance, Indian officers avoided eating lunch together with ordinary workers because they belonged to different castes at first. There were little interaction among them.

But as the Chairman of the company, Mr. Osamu Suzuki, kept eating the same lunch with ordinary workers, sharing the same table, gradually Indian management staff began joining him and, in the end, they did not have any problem with all levels emplyees eating lunch together in a same restaurant.

This is just an anecdote but it illustrates that Indian tradition can be modified and they can adjust too, like any other people around the world.

And nowadays the concern about the Chinese economy is rising among Japanese and American professionals. Chinese economy may need a destructive adjustment.

if Japan and USA provides India with enough "support", then we can see some progress....
maybe Japan and USA market for India.....

the support could be in form of
(1) Buying services....ie. the large Trading House
(2) Forex loans to India....to pay for the large deficits..
(3) Technical cooperation, to help India in textile, electronic, automotive....
(4) Provide India with cheap energy and commodity....subsidized by Japan..from Africa, Latin America, South East Asia and British Club nations.
(5) Setting up Japanese real estate companies, to rehouse, monetized the Indian real estate...
(6) Help settling Amerikan Inspired, covert funding of "destabalization" in Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and various other insurgency in Assam, Nepal, internal moslem terrorist.
(7) changing "eating habits" of indian....
(8) helping India improve "yield of farm produce", and introducing industrial processing of those products...
.........

just talking about it would not do, Mr. SoudenJapan...
