No sure what happened to them, unfortunately. The Croatian girl, who was a little better-off, wrote a couple letters to us, and we responded; we sent each of them a birthday package, too, but after that, communication sort of dropped off. I hope they're doing all right... they'd be a couple years out of college by now, assuming they went.
Exactly, the program is for YOU and not for the Serbian or the Croatian girl.
To the Serbian girl and the Croatian girl, that short stay with an American family is a short reprieve from the unreality, a taste of good American living. But ultimately they still have to go back to their harsh reality.
To you, a young American girl, who has no exposure to the real harsh world other than what your American President and your American Government controlled, brainwashed and fed you with, the benefits are immense, both to you and to your Government.
From the program, you get to know there are unfortunate people out there and you are “very lucky” and “very fortunate” to be an American and living in America.
The program also gives you the “self-importance” that you have HELPED the unfortunate people.
In reality, you have done NOTHING for them.
The program is solely for YOU and NOT for them.
The Serbian girl and the Croatian girl are just conveniently available TOOLS to contrast your good living environment against theirs, to give you a sense of SELF-IMPORTANCE and SUPERIORITY over these unfortunate people. It is the way your Government controls you. If you don’t believe, you can go back and ask parents.
To help a poor fisherman, I would rather give him the fishing rod, the tool and skill that he might learn how to fish, rather than to give him fish which relieves him for a day but not forever.
So really, the program is NOT something that I, if I were you, am or can be proud of.
It has NOT helped anybody except for the immense benefits that it brings to YOU, especially, giving you the self-importance, a feeling of empowerment, that you have helped others and your great American spirit of benevolence and charity (which you would say you do not find in others).
So, I hope you understand, and everyone does here (in particular, elsen_chen) that I am not anti-America or anti-West without good reasons.
