Well, it is Western Names
not just English. In French, my brother Steven is called Etienne, and in Paris, he uses that name instead of Steven. In Italian, my English name is translated as Giovanni, and that is what I use when in Italy.|
Many Asians, including Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, and others, use a western name when traveling or communicating with westerners. So do Africans, Russians, and others.
Some translate their own name, some pick a new name, some ask for help with a name.
I was given my Chinese name by some Chinese Colleagues. I have some American Friends in Japan who have chosen Japanese names to make communication easier.
I think in China it is just that you see so many Chinese and few westerners, and most of the Western names are English.
You might ask Afri-Simba for African names, or Bassam for arabic names, or even just start a post asking for interesting names.
Here: Gudrun is an interesting Scandinavian woman's name meaning God's secrets, and Gavril is an interesting Russian man's name meaning God's messenger. Or find your own.
