Not one word of criticism. Astonishing.

The death toll from Hurricane Katrina may be in the thousands in New Orleans alone. The official death toll has already reached 110 in Mississippi.

80 percent of New Orleans is under water, up to 20 feet deep in places.

New Orlean's mayor warned it could be four months before people were allowed back, and rebuilding could take years.

Risk analysts estimated the storm will cost insurers over $20 billion.

Of course Flotsam's first instinct is to make a smarmy joke about it, to eschewing an honorable silence for the opportunity to gloat about human tragedy on a huge scale.  Truly reprehensible, yet totally expected from the village 白痴 and true to form for the worthless jackal that he is.

And yet, almost as reprehensible and certainly more disappointing is the complete lack of reproach shown by other members of this forum. Why is it that no one else has called Flotsam out on this?  Is it out of some misguided desire to maintain a united front with him on more pressing political matters? Or is it just total and abject indifference? Whatever the reason, its very disappointing.

flotsam...thanks for the link, however...

This article has ZERO credibility ...I've taken the liberty to copy and post the entire article here.  As you can see, it is an example of journalism at it's worst.  No quotes.  No details, no nothing.  Not even an author's name.  I seriously doubt that the United States has requested financial aid from other countries regarding Katrina.  If anyone can provide me with a more credible link, please do so.  I will be grateful.

As for Hurricane season, in America, it begins in Springtime/early Summer, not later as you mentioned.

The evacuation orders were given, but in America, people are free to disobey the government - at their own detriment.  The mayor of New Orleans issued a  prophetic quote prior to the storm.  "Some of the die hards who won't evacuate are going to die hard."  Now that this has happened, it's unfair to blame the government.  Those citizens made their choice.  Now they reap the consequences.

Aid plea as death toll rises

An urgent appeal for financial aid was made as the United States began to come to terms with the true extent of the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina.

In what could prove to be the worst natural disaster ever to hit the US, an estimated 80 people have been killed. It is feared that number will rise.

Hundreds of thousands of people across Louisiana and Mississippi have been made homeless as distressing images of the storm-hit area are beamed around the world. Several observers have said the area looks like a "war zone".
